The side impact sheet or other-type beam for passenger car can also be implemented by reference of this Standard. 2 Normative References The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) are applicable to this document. GB/T 223 (all parts) Methods for Chemical Analysis of Iron, Steel and Alloy GB/T 228 (all parts) Metallic Materials – Tensile Testing JB/T 9204 Metallographic Examination of Induction Hardened Steel Parts 3 Terms and Definitions For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 Side impact beam for passenger car The side impact beam for passenger car is the structure to strength the side door of the passenger car; it can improve the ability of the side from invading when the side of the passenger car is subjected to an external impact; reduce the intrusion amount for the side of the car; meanwhile, it can absorb partial impact energy; reduce the injury and danger to the occupants. 3.2 Side impact tube beam for passenger car It indicates the component that consists of high-strength steel pipe welded with joint the steel pipe shall not disconnect from the joint bracket. 6 Test Methods 6.1 Test conditions The test temperature is 23°C±5°C. 6.2 Test items 6.2.1 Test method of surface quality The inner and outer surfaces of the steel pipe are visually examined under light conditions. 6.2.2 Chemical composition Perform the chemical composition analysis according to the relevant provisions of GB/T 223. 6.2.3 Mechanical performance test 6.2.3.1 Full-size longitudinal sample test Insert the mating metal plug into the specimen specified in the standard Figure 2; so that the tester jaws can hold the sample securely and the sample is required not to slip. The plug shall not reach the test area where the elongation rate is measured. Figure 2 shown the shape of full-size longitudinal sample and metal plug, the position of plug in the sample, as well as the position of sample in the tester. The test rate shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 228. Figure 6 – Welding Seam Position for Elliptical Steel Pipe 6.2.5 Low-temperature impact test Three samples shall be taken according to full-size pipe section of no less than 450mm in length; maintain for 1h at -40°C environmental condition; then place onto the impact testing device; finish the impact test within 20s. The support device of the testing device has a radius of 17.5mm; span of 250mm, heavy hammer mass of 175kg, head radius of 90mm; the heavy hammer is placed 1200mm above the steel pipe, it impacts the middle of the steel pipe in a free-falling mode. The test schematic diagram is shown in Figure 7. When taking round steel pipe for impact test, the welding seam positions are impacted at three positions of 0°, 90°, 180° (see Figure 5). When taking elliptical steel pipe for impact test, the welding seam position is impacted at the position of 90° (see Figure 6). Figure 7 – Low-Temperature Impact Test Schematic Diagram 6.2.6 Metallurgical structure If sample is taken in the middle of the full-size pipe section or taken at the position specified in the part technical condition, there shall be no tempering during sampling period. After the metallurgical sample is ground, use the alcohol solution containing volume fraction of 2%~5% nitric acid to etch; then measure the microstructure at 400×. 6.2.7 Connection performance The impact beam is firmly clamped on the material tester, the sample is required not to slip. The tester shall be loaded at the speed no more than 5mm/min till reach the Unit: mm d) When there is big difference between the exit-factory inspection and the previous type inspection; e) When it is for normal production, it shall be performed once a year; f) When the national quality supervision agency proposes the requirements for carrying out type inspection. 7.2.2.2 Random sampling The steel pipes produced on the same production site, with the same raw material, the same equipment and process shall be regarded as on batch. The products for type inspection shall be randomly taken from the same batch of products that pass the exit- factory inspection; the number of sampling shall be no less than 13; while the random sampling base shall be no less than 70. The specific random sampling method shall be determined by the manufacturer and host manufacturer. 7.2.2.3 The type inspection items include all contents listed in Clause 6. 7.2.2.4 Qualification judgment When all type inspection items meet the requirements, it shall be judged as qualified. If there are unqualified technical indicators in the inspection items, it is allowed to double the random sampling quantity for re-inspection (or agreement between the manufacture and host manufacturer) from the same batch; the re-inspection results shall prevail. If the re-inspection result is qualified, then such batch of products is qualified; otherwise, it is judged unqualified. 8 Marking, Package, Transportation and Storage 8.1 General requirements 8.1.1 The side impact tube beam for passenger car shall be packed neatly and bundled firmly, which shall ensure that products are not loose, moisture, deformed, or damaged during the normal transporting and storing period. The word of the marking shall be clear. 8.1.2 The packaging materials shall comply with the relevant laws and regulations. 8.2 Marking The side impact tube beam for passenger car shall have the following signs: a) The name of the manufacturer and the registered trademark; b) Product name and code, manufacture date or production batch number. ......
