Foreword
Jar Candle series product is one of the main products of the candle industry. In order to
ensure product quality, this industry standard is developed.
This Standard was drafted with reference to the German standard RAL-GZ 041/1 (2005)
(General Quality and Inspection Specifications for candles), and the American Material and
Testing Association standard ASTM F 2417-2004 (Standard Specification for Fire Safety for
Candles).
This Standard was proposed by China Light Industry Federation.
This Standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Toothpaste and Wax Product
Standardization Center.
Main drafting organizations of this Standard. Qingdao Jinwang Chemistry Co., Ltd.,
Zhongnan Candle Co., Ltd., Quan Wei Candle Co., Ltd., Dingzhou City Jinqiao Candles

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the jar candle’s terms and definitions, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, signs, packaging, transportation, storage, and shelf life.
This Standard applies to jar candle products.
2 Normative References

become provisions of this Standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments
(excluding the correction) or revisions of these publications do not apply to this Standard.
However, parties who enter into agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
4 Requirements
4.1 Performance indicators
Performance indicators of finished product shall comply with the provisions in Table 1.
4.2 Net content
Net content shall comply with the provisions of Decree 75, State Administration of Quality
Inspection and Supervision Quarantine.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Container
TAKE 4 samples, OBSERVE the container if there is gap, cracks, burrs and bubbles.
5.2 Color
TAKE 4 samples, visually INSPECT them.
5.3 Odor
TAKE 4 samples, TEST by sniffing.
5.6 Thermal stability
5.6.1 Main instrument
Incubator. Accuracy ± 1°C.
5.6.2 Test steps
TAKE 4 samples, horizontally PLACE them in (35±1)°C incubator, MAINTAIN for 24h,
TAKE out and RESTORE to room temperature, and OBSERVE if there is deformation or
discoloration phenomenon.
5.7 light stability
5.8 Product placement stability
TAKE 4 samples, in sequence PLACE each sample on 10º slope, OBSERVE if there is
topple-over phenomenon under any placement angle.
5.9 Burning performance
TAKE 4 samples, under conditions of room temperature 15°C - 25°C and without strong air
convection, OBSERVE the burning condition after lighting for 15min, and until completely
extinguished. MEASURE the flame height with still ruler, TAKE the maximum value of the 4
measurement results as final test result.
5.10 Burning time
TAKE 4 samples, under conditions of room temperature 15°C - 25°C and without strong air
convection, USE timer to measure the time from start-burning to the burning when it
reaches the 10mm or 20mm (refer to Note of 5.9 for the test) from the bottom.
5.11 Burning afterglow
TAKE 4 samples, under conditions of room temperature 15°C - 25°C and without strong air
convection, LIGHT for 30 min, EXTINGUISH the candles, MEASURE the time from
extinguishing of wax core to smokeless; LIGHT the candle again, REPEAT above steps.
TAKE the maximum value of the 2 measurement results as final test result.
5.14 Net content
TAKE 10 samples to weigh, COMPARE with the marked net content, it shall comply with
the provisions of Decree 75, State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection
Quarantine.
6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Inspection classification
Product inspection is divided into factory inspection and type inspection.
6.1.3 Batch and sampling
The products produced by same batch of material and the same batch of specifications are
deemed as same batch. Samples complying with inspection quantity shall be randomly
sampled from each batch of products. After inspected and qualified by the factory
inspection department, they may only be shipped out with product certification.
6.2 Judgment rules
If there is an item of the test results not meeting the requirements of this Standard, it may
sample double quantity of the same batch product to perform re-testing. For unqualified
item, the re-test result shall prevail. If there is still 1 item of the re-test results not meeting
the requirements of this Standard, it shall be judged as unqualified. [Translator. “ > 1

7 Signs, Packaging, Transportation, Storage, and Shelf Life
7.1 Signs
Product sales packaging and transport packaging shall comply with GB/T 191.
7.1.1 There shall be the following signs on the sales package, it may be based on customer
requirements under special circumstances.
7.1.2 Transport packaging shall have the following signs, it may be based on customer
requirements under special circumstances.
7.2 Packaging
Under the condition of not damaging the product quality, product packaging and packaging
materials shall be defined by supplier and purchaser. Transport packaging carton shall be
firm. Each box shall be accompanied with certificate.
7.3 Transportation
AVOID severe vibration, shock, rain and sunlight during transportation. HANDLE with care
when loading / unloading.
7.4 Storage
Products shall be stored in less than 35°C, ventilated and dry warehouse. It is prohibited to
store near heat sources. It shall not be directly contacted with ground or wall when stacking.
Stacking height shall not exceed 2m.
7.5 Shelf life
The date shall be marked on the visual surface.
