This Standard was modified on the basis of professional standard ZBY 28004-86 Test
Methods for Thermal Sealing Strength of Plastic Film Packaging Bag.
This Standard nonequivalent adopted Japanese industry standard JIS Z 0238-1995
Test Method for Sealed Flexible Packaging Bag.
This Standard added the specimen measurement method; added test conditions in the
test report.
This Standard was proposed by Quality Standard Department of China Light Industry
Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Standardization Center of
Plastics.
Drafting organization of this Standard. Jilin Plastics Research Institute.
Chief drafting staffs of this Standard. Dong Xiaowei, Gao Yunxue, Yu Yan, Jiang
Shulan, and Zhao Lili.
This Standard replaced ZBY 28004-86 since the date of implementation.

Strength of Plastic Film Packaging Bag
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the test methods for thermal sealing strength of plastic film
packaging bag.
This Standard is applicable to the determination of thermal sealing strength for various
plastic film packaging bags.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard,
constitute provisions of this Standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated
are valid. All standards are subject to revision. The parties who are using this Standard
shall explore the possibility of using the latest version of the following standards.
GB 2918-82 Plastics – Standard Atmospheres for Conditioning and Testing
3 Equipment and Measuring Gauges
3.1 Equipment
Tensile tester. the actually-measured indication shall be in the range of 15% ~ 85% of
the full scale of the dial; and the reading indication error shall be within ±1%.
3.2 Measuring gauges
Vernier caliper. accuracy of 0.02mm.
Ruler. accuracy of 1mm.
4 Specimen
4.1 Sampling position
As shown in Figure 1, take samples from the side, back, top and bottom of the plastic
film packaging bag, and in perpendicular direction of the thermal sealing position;
which shall be regarded as the thermal sealing specimen on the side, back, top and
bottom of the packing bag.
4.2 Shape and size
Specimen width is (15±0.1) mm; the expansion length is (100±1) mm; if the expansion
length is less than (100±1) mm, as shown in Figure 2, splice with the same materials
as the bag by adhesive tape, so that the expansion length meets the requirement of
(100±1) mm.
4.5 Conditioning
It shall be performed as per the standard environment and normal deviation range
specified in GB 2918; the conditioning time shall be no less than 4h, and test shall be
carried out under such condition.
5 Test Procedures
Open the specimen through the conditioning 180° with the thermal sealing position as
center; clamp the two ends of the specimen onto the two fixtures of the tester;
6 Calculation
The test result shall take the arithmetic mean of 10 specimens as the thermal sealing
strength of such position; unit is N/15mm; take three significant digits.

7.1 Name, materials, and specification of the plastic film packaging bag.
7.2 Test conditions.
