3 Terms and definitions
3.1 Rephoshorized steels (P)
In low carbon steel or ultra-low carbon steel, the strength of steel is mainly increased,
by adding solid solution strengthening elements, such as phosphorus, which does not
exceed 0.12%. This steel has high strength and good cold-forming properties, as well
as good impact resistance and fatigue resistance; it is usually used in the production of
automotive panels and structural parts.
3.2 High strength interstitial free steels (Y)
The plastic strain ratio (r value) and strain hardening exponent (n value) of the steel are
improved, by controlling the chemical components in the steel. Due to the solid solution
strengthening of the elements in the steel and the interstitial free microstructure, this
steel combines high strength with very good cold formability; it is usually used to make
complex parts, that require deep drawing.
3.3 Bake hardening steels (B)
A certain amount of solid solution carbon and nitrogen atoms are retained in the steel,
meanwhile strengthening elements such as phosphorus and manganese can be added to
increase the strength. After processing and forming, after baking at a certain
temperature, the yield strength of the steel is further increased due to age hardening. It
is typically applied to automotive exterior panels.
3.4 High strength low alloy steels (LA)
In low carbon steel, by single or composite addition of niobium, titanium, vanadium
and other microalloying elements, carbonitride particles are precipitated for
strengthening; at the same time, the grain refinement of microalloying elements is
adopted to obtain higher strength.
4 Category and code
4.1 Steel sheets and steel strips shall comply with the requirements in Table 1, according
to their application.
4.2 Steel sheets and steel strips shall conform to the provisions in Table 2, according to
their surface quality.
4.3 Steel sheets and steel strips shall comply with the provisions in Table 3, according
to the surface structure.
5 Information required for ordering
5.1 The user shall provide the following information when ordering.
a) Product name (steel sheet or steel strip);
b) The enterprise standard number of this document;
c) Designation;
d) Product specifications and dimensions, roughness accuracy;
e) Greasing requirements;

6 Dimensions, shape, weight, tolerance
The size, shape, weight, tolerance of steel sheets and strips shall comply with the
provisions of Q/BQB 401.
7 Technical requirements
7.1 Chemical composition
7.1.1 The chemical composition (smelting analysis) of the steel shall meet the
requirements in Table 4.
7.1.2 The tolerance of the chemical composition of the finished steel sheet and steel
strip shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 222.
7.2 Smelting method
The steel used for steel sheets and strips is smelted in an oxygen converter.
7.3 Delivery status
7.3.1 Steel sheets and strips are delivered, after cold rolling, annealing, leveling.
7.3.2 Steel sheets and steel strips are usually supplied after greasing. The grease film
shall be able to be removed, by alkaline aqueous solution. Under normal packaging,
transportation, loading and unloading, storage conditions, the supplier shall guarantee
that the surface of the steel sheet and steel strip will not rust, within 6 months from the
date of completion of manufacture. According to the requirements of the buyer, it can
also be supplied without grease, after reaching agreement between the supplier and the
buyer AND specified in the contract. For defects such as rust, scratches and friction
marks, which are caused by non-greased products during handling, storage and use, the
supplier will not be responsible for the corresponding product quality.
7.4 Mechanical properties
7.4.1 The supplier guarantees that within 6 months from the date of completion of
manufacture, the mechanical properties of steel sheets and strips shall comply with the
corresponding provisions in Table 5, Table 6, Table 7.
7.4.2 When steel sheets and steel strips are supplied as specified parts, the supplier and
the purchaser can agree on a range of mechanical properties, that meets the processing
requirements of the parts, as the acceptance benchmark. At this time, the mechanical
properties, which are specified in Table 5, Table 6, Table 7, will not be used as a basis
for delivery.
7.4.3 Due to the influence of aging, the mechanical properties of steel sheets and steel
strips will deteriorate, with the prolongation of storage time, such as the increase of
yield strength and tensile strength, the decrease of elongation at break, the deterioration
of formability, the appearance of tensile strain marks, etc. So, it is recommended that
users use it as soon as possible.
7.5 Tensile strain marks
7.6 Surface quality
7.6.1 There shall be no holes, surface cracks, laminations, or other harmful defects on
the surface of steel sheets and steel strips.
7.6.2 The characteristics of each surface quality level of steel sheets and strips shall
comply with the provisions in Table 8.For high-strength low-alloy steel, the applicable
surface quality level code is FB.
7.7 Surface structure
7.7.1 The average surface roughness of steel sheets and strips shall be controlled,
according to the requirements in Table 9.
7.7.2 Surface structure suitable for environmental coating (BAOTEXTM)
BAOTEXTM products can meet the technical requirements of advanced environmental
protection coating technology. If users have needs, they can be negotiated when
ordering.
7.7.3 Surface structure with high corrosion resistance (N or C)
The product can meet higher technical requirements for corrosion resistance. If the user
has requirement, it can be negotiated when ordering.
8 Inspection and test
8.1 The appearance of steel sheets and strips shall be inspected with naked eyes.
8.2 The size and shape of steel sheets and strips shall be measured, by appropriate
measuring tools.
8.3 The tensile test shall be in accordance with method B of GB/T 228.1-2021.In order
to improve the reproducibility of the measurement results, it is recommended to adopt
the beam displacement rate control method; the beam displacement rate for determining
the yield strength is 0.00083 × Lc (mm/s) (Lc is the parallel length of the tensile
specimen, in mm, the same as below) or 0.05 × Lc (mm/min); after the yield strength is
measured, the beam displacement rate is 0.0067 × Lc (mm/s) or 0.4 × Lc (mm/min).
8.5 The steel sheets and strips shall be inspected and accepted in batches. Each
inspection batch shall consist of not more than 30 tons of steel sheets and strips of the
same designation, specification, processing status. For steel strips weighing more than
30 tons, each coil constitutes an inspection batch.
8.6 The inspection items, specimen quantity, sampling method, test method of each
batch of steel sheets and strips shall comply with the provisions in Table 10.
8.7 The supplier may use different inspection and test methods for acceptance test. In
case of disputes, the inspection and test methods, which are specified in this document
and relevant technical requirements, shall be used for test.
8.8 Retest
For tensile, strain hardening exponent (n value), plastic strain ratio (r value), BH2 test,
if any of the test results do not meet the requirements of this document, it shall take
double number of specimens randomly from the same batch, for re-test of the
unqualified item. If the re-test results (including all the indicators required by the item
test) are qualified, the whole batch is qualified. Even if one indicator fails in the retest
results (including all the indicators required by the item test), the retest is unqualified.
If the re-test fails, the single piece that has been tested and the test result is
unsatisfactory cannot be accepted; however, the single piece that has not been tested in
this batch of materials can be resubmitted for test and acceptance one by one.
9 Packaging, marking, inspection documents
The packaging, marking, inspection documents of steel sheets and strips shall comply
with the provisions of Q/BQB 400.If the buyer has special requirements for packaging,
it shall be indicated in the contract.
