Steel Sheet and Strip
1 Scope
The Technical Specifications specifies the terms and definitions, classification and
codes, dimensions, shape, weight, technical requirements, inspection and testing,
packaging, marking and inspection documents of cold-rolled ordinary high strength
steel sheet and strip. The Technical Specifications apply to the cold-rolled ordinary high
strength steel sheet and strip of 0.50 mm to 2.5 mm in thickness (hereinafter referred
to as steel sheet and strip) which are produced by BaoSteel Group.
2 Normative References
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this

3 Terms and Definitions
3.1 Rephosphorized steels (P)
In low carbon steels or ultra-low carbon steels, the strength of steels is improved mainly
by adding the solid solution strengthening elements, such as phosphorus, not
exceeding 0.12%. This kind of steels show high strength and good cold-forming
performance, and have good impact resistance and fatigue resistance performance,
so it is usually used for the manufacture of automotive covering parts and structural
parts.
3.2 Isotropic steels (I)
Isotropic steels are the steels which limit the plastic strain ratio (r value). Because of
the isotropic performance of this kind of steels, they show good stretch forming
performance, which is suitable for the manufacture of automotive covering parts.
3.3 High strength interstitial free steels (Y)
The plastic strain ratio (r value) and strain hardening exponent (n value) of steels are
improved by controlling the chemical composition of steels. Because the
microstructure of the solid solution strengthening and interstitial free atoms in the
elements of steels, this kind of steels have high strength as well as very good cold-
f) surface quality grade;
g) packaging method;
h) application; and
i) others.
5.2 If the dimensions and roughness accuracy, surface quality grade, edge state and
packaging method are not indicated in the purchase contract, the products of the
technical specifications will be delivered in accordance with the trimmed steel strip or
trimmed steel sheet of common dimensions and roughness accuracy and FB grade
surface quality; and shall be packaged in accordance with the packaging method
provided by the supplier.
6 Dimensions, Shape, Weight and Permissible
Tolerances
The dimensions, shape, weight and permissible tolerances of steel sheet and strip
shall meet the specifications of Q/BQB 401.
7 Technical Requirements
7.1 Chemical composition
7.1.1 The chemical composition of steels (by melting analysis) shall meet the
specifications of Table 4.
7.1.2 The permissible tolerances of the chemical compositions of the finished
products of steel sheet and strip shall meet the specifications of GB/T 222.
7.2 The steel used to produce steel sheet and strip are smelted with the oxygen
converter.
7.3 Delivery condition
7.3.1 Steel sheet and strip shall be delivered after annealing and skin passing after
cold rolling.
7.3.2 Steel sheet and strip is usually delivered with oil coating; the oil film coated can
be removed with aqueous alkaline solutions. Under the normal conditions of packaging,
transportation, handling and storage, the supplier shall guarantee that the surface of
steel sheet and strip will not get rusty within 6 months from the date of manufacturing.
In accordance with the requirements of the supplier and as agreed upon by both parties
and indicated in the contract, it can also delivered without oil coating. For the product
without oil coating, the supplier will not be held responsible for the defects resulted in
the process of handling, storage and use, including rust, scratch and abrasion mark.
Note. The issuing date of the product inspection documents is usually specified as the data of manufacture.
7.4 Mechanical properties
7.4.1 The supplier shall guarantee that the mechanical properties of steel sheet and
strip will meet relevant specifications of Table 5, Table 6 and Table 7, within 6 months
from the date of manufacture.
7.4.2 When steel sheet and strip is delivered in accordance with the specified parts,
both parties can agree upon the mechanical properties meeting the processing
requirements of the parts as the acceptance criteria. Then, mechanical properties
specified in Table 5, Table 6 and Table 7 will no longer be the basis of delivery.
