Summary This standard applies to the monitoring sulfur content greater than 500��g/g in the use of petroleum-based and hydrocarbyl diesel engine crankcase oil and other engine oil sulfonation value. This standard does not apply to the use of low-sulfur fuel equipment in oil sulfonation monitoring. This standard applies to petroleum-based and hydrocarbon-based lubricants, does not apply to ester-based lubricants, including polyol esters or phosphate esters.
