3.3~3.5 of this standard are mandatory and the rest are recommendatory.
This standard is revised from MT 821-1999 "Belt Conveyor for Coal
Mines-Idlers-Technical Specification" and replaces MT 821-1999.
Compared with MT 821-1999, this standard has the following main changes.
——Revise performance requirements of pipe body (3.3.1 of 1999 edition; 3.3.1 of this
edition);
——Enlarge selection scope of bearing (3.3.3 of 1999 edition; 3.3.3 of this edition);
——Add assembly requirements for pressing bearing block (see 3.4.3);
——Add the requirements for radial circular runout quantity of idlers with length larger
than 1600mm and with a diameter of φ194~φ245mm (Table 2).
——Revise the requirements for axial moving value (3.5.2 of 1999 edition; 3.5.2 of this
edition);
——Add the requirements for rotational resistance of idlers adopting contact seal (Table
3);
——Add the requirements for rotational resistance of φ194~φ245mm idlers (Table 3);
——Revise the requirements for drop strength (3.5.4 of 1999 edition; 3.5.4 of this
edition);
——Add the requirements for axial load of φ194~φ245mm idlers (Table 4 of 1999
edition; Table 4 of this edition);
——Adjust the requirements for water soaking sealing performance and water spraying

——MT 74-1983, ZB D 93009-1990 and MT 821-1999.
Introduction
According to the requirements for abolishing professional standards by the nation, the
standard number of the original ZB D 93009-1990 "Belt Conveyor for Coal
Mines-Idlers-Technical Specification" is changed to MT 821-1999, but the clauses therein
have no change, therefore, MT 821 has existed for more than ten years. With the increase of
coal yield of China and the appearance of high-production and high-efficiency working face,
especially large increase of production capacity of equipment for excavation, the belt
conveyor develops towards long distance, large transport volume, large power and high belt
speed, but the domestic current standards with respect to idler technology have a certain
limitation; in order to make the development of idler technical standards keep up with the
development speed of belt conveyor timely, this standard makes revision for the original MT
821-1999 according to the technical development state of belt conveyor idlers and the demand
of coal mine production. The formulation and implementation of this standard will play a
positive role in facilitating the popularization and application as well as development of new
technology of the conveyor.
With the development of conveyor idler and relevant technology, this standard needs to
be revised from time to time.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking,
packing, transport and storage of belt conveyor idlers for coal mines.
This standard is applicable to belt conveyor idlers for coal mines.
2 Normative References

parties coming to an agreement according to this standard are encouraged to study whether

3 Requirements
3.1 General requirements
Idlers shall be manufactured according to drawings and technical documents approved
through established procedure.
3.2 Service conditions
3.2.1 Ambient temperature shall be -10~+40 .℃
23.2.2 The composition of underground air shall meet the requirements of Article 100 in
"Safety Regulations in Coal Mine" (2004 edition).
3.2.3 Water spraying condition is allowed in the working environment.
3.2.4 Idlers shall be capable of adapting normal collision conditions in handling and
installation process.
3.3 Requirements for parts
3.3.1 Pipe body
The pipe body may be of metallic or nonmetallic material, and its quality performance
indexes shall meet the requirements of MT/T 1019-2006.
3.3.2 Bearing block
3.3.2.1 Bearing block may adopt iron casting or pressing. The mechanical and physical
properties of iron casting materials shall not be less than HTl50; the mechanical and physical
properties of pressing materials shall not be less than those of 08F quality carbon steel; and
the nominal thickness shall not be less than 3mm.
3.3.2.2 The inside diameter tolerance of bearing hole of bearing block shall be M7.
3.3.3 Bearing
The bearing shall preferentially adopt KA series of dedicated idler bearing and meet the
requirements of MT/T 655, and it may also adopt other deep-groove large-play bearing, and
its performance shall meet the requirements of the relevant national standard.
3.3.4 Idler shaft
The mechanical and physical properties of idler shaft materials shall not be less than
those of Q235-A steel. The outside diameter tolerance of idler shaft and bearing assembly part
shall be js6.
3.3.5 Sealing device
3.3.5.1 The sealing end face of the sealing element shall be free from such defects as crack,
scratch and air hole.
3.3.5.2 The sealing device shall be provided with good sealing performance and capable of
effectively preventing coal dust and water entering into bearing.
3.3.6 Lubricating grease
The quality indexes of lubricating grease used for idlers shall be in accordance with
those specified in Table 1.
