General Test Methods and Judgment Rules for Fire-
resistant Antistatic Properties of Polymer Products for
Coal Mines
1 Subject content and scope of application
This Standard specifies the fire-resistant properties, surface resistance test
methods, judgment rules, and inspection and sampling requirements of polymer
products.
This Standard applies to polymer products that can cause prolonged
combustion and static sparks in coal mines.
2 Normative references
MT 182, Alcohol blast burner structure and technical requirements
3 Terms
3.1 Fire-resistant properties
It refers to the ability of polymer products to pass the following tests.
3.2 The length flame spread
The length of the charred part of the test piece after the flame combustion and
flameless combustion of the test piece are extinguished.
4 Fire-resistant properties test methods
4.1 Alcohol blast burner combustion test method
4.1.1 Test piece
Cut 6 test pieces from the sample, each of which is 360 mm long, 50 mm wide,
and 5 ~ 10 mm thick.
4.1.2 Instruments and apparatuses
a. Blast burner. The blast burner shall meet the requirements of MT 182; the
fuel shall be supplied from a container with a graduated tube. The fuel used
shall be a mixture (V/V) of 95% ethanol (GB 394) and 5% methanol (GB 338).
b. Combustion test chamber. There shall be a machined and sealed matching
hole, which serves as the entrance of the blast burner remote control device
and the fuel line; the inner surface of the chamber shall be painted black (see
Figure 1); the chamber shall be equipped with an adjustable device to ensure
that the test piece is in place; a fume hood with an exhaust fan shall be installed
on the upper part of the chamber, but it must be premised not to cause changes
in flame combustion, otherwise, the fan shall be turned off during the test.
c. Stopwatch. The minimum division scale of the stopwatch is 0.01 s.
Figure 1 – Schematic diagram of the combustion test chamber
4.1.3 Test procedures
4.1.3.1 The operation and maintenance of the alcohol blast burner shall be
4.1.3.4 Carry out the test in a combustion chamber under low light; ignite the
alcohol blast burner; adjust the flame height to 150 ~ 180 mm; the fuel
consumption is 2.55 ± 0.15 mL/min.
4.1.3.5 The air flow around the test piece during the test shall be as small as
possible, subject to the flame that does not affect the test piece.
4.1.4 Result expression
The following test results shall be recorded and calculated.
4.1.4.1 The unit value of the flame combustion time and flameless combustion
time of each test piece and drippings;
4.1.4.2 The length flame spread of each test piece;
4.1.4.3 The arithmetic mean of the flame combustion time of 6 test pieces and
drippings;
4.1.4.4 The arithmetic mean of the flameless combustion time of 6 test pieces
and drippings.
4.2 Alcohol lamp combustion test method
4.2.1 Test piece
Cut 6 test pieces from the sample, each of which is 360 mm long, 50 mm wide,
and 5 ~ 10 mm thick.
4.2.3.6 The test piece is perpendicular to the door of the combustion chamber,
so that both sides of the test piece can be observed.
4.2.4 Result expression
The following test results shall be recorded and calculated.
5 Surface resistance test methods
5.1 Test piece
5.1.1 Cut 3 test pieces from the sample; the size shall not be less than 300 mm
× 300 mm, and the thickness shall be 5 ~ 10 mm.
5.1.2 The test piece shall be smooth and free of defects such as cracks, bubbles
and mechanical impurities.
5.2 Conductive fluid
The composition of the conductive liquid is. (m/m)
Anhydrous polyethylene glycol whose molecular weight is 600 4 portions
Soft soap 1/200 portions
Water 1 portion
5.3 Instruments
5.3.1 Surface resistance tester.
The measurement range of the surface resistance tester is 103 ~ 1010 Ω; the
accuracy is 1.5; the DC power supply voltage is 50 ~ 500 V; the voltage
selection is based on the premise that the power consumption in the test piece
is not more than 1 W.
5.4 Determination steps
5.4.1 Determination conditions
Test voltage. 500 ± 20 V, 100 ± 10 V, 50 ± 10 V;
Test environment. the temperature is 23 ± 2 °C; the relative humidity is (65 ±
5) %.
5.5 Result expression
The following determination results shall be recorded and calculated.
6 Judgment rules
6.1 Fire-resistant properties
6.1.1 Alcohol blast burner combustion test method
When testing according to the methods described in this Standard, the following
requirements shall be met.
6.1.2 Alcohol lamp combustion test method
When testing according to the methods described in this Standard, the following
requirements shall be met.
6.2 Surface resistance value
Both the arithmetic averages of the surface resistances of the upper and lower
surfaces of the test piece shall not be greater than 3×105 Ω.
7 Inspection and sampling requirements
7.1 The fire-resistant antistatic properties of polymer products for coal mines
must be inspected by the Quality Supervision and Inspection Center
(hereinafter referred to as the "center") designated by the Ministry of Coal
Industry.
7.2 When submitting for inspection, for products that cannot be directly
prepared as samples, samples of the same material as the products shall be
provided; the sample size is 360 mm × 300 mm, and the thickness is 5 ~ 10
mm. The number of samples is 6 pieces.
7.3 When submitting for inspection, a product type inspection report shall be
attached.
7.5 After the validity period of the "Qualification Certificate of Product
Inspection" expires, the "center" shall conduct random inspections, and issue a
new certificate after the inspection is qualified.
7.6 In response to product quality problems, authorized by the superior authority,
the "center" has the right to sample and re-inspect the products that have been
issued with the "Qualification Certificate of Product Inspection”. If product
quality problems are found, it shall propose rectification suggestions and revoke
the original "Qualification Certificate of Product Inspection".
