Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces JB/T 6880.1-1993 "Grey iron castings for pumps". Compared
with JB/T 6880.1-1993, the main technical changes are as follows.
- MODIFY the scope (see Chapter 1; Chapter 1 of the 1993 edition);
- ADD the standard GB/T 5116 (see Chapter 2);
- DELETE GB/T 11350 (see Chapter 2; Chapter 2 of the 1993 edition);
- ADD the terms and definitions (see Chapter 3).
This standard was proposed by the China Machinery Industry Federation.
This standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Pump Standardization
Technical Committee (SAC/TC 211).

Grey iron castings for pumps
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, designations, technical requirements,
test methods, inspection rules, casting markings, packaging, storage and transportation
requirements of gray iron castings for pumps (hereinafter referred to as castings).
This standard applies to gray iron castings for pumps, which are cast in sand molds or
molds with thermal conductivity equivalent to sand molds, where there are no special
requirements for repair welding in drawings or other technical documents. Gray iron
castings for pumps as cast in other molds can also be used for reference.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated
documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document;
for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) is
applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 5611, as well as the following terms and
definitions, apply to this document.
4 Designations
The cast iron designations shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 4 of GB/T 9439-
2010.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 Production method and chemical composition
The production method and chemical composition shall comply with the provisions of
6.1 and 6.2 of GB/T 9439-2010.
5.4 Heat treatment
Castings shall be subjected to stress relief annealing treatment. The specific
requirements shall be agreed upon by the supplier and the buyer.
5.5 Geometric shape and size
The geometric shape and size of the casting shall comply with the requirements of the
drawing.
5.6 Dimensional tolerance
5.6.1 The dimensional tolerance of general parts shall not be less than that specified in
Table 1; the tolerance zone shall be set symmetrically to the basic size of the casting.
5.7 Shift value
The shift value of the casting shall be within the dimensional tolerance specified in
Table 1.When the shift value is further restricted, it shall be indicated on the drawing.
5.8 Machining allowance
The machining allowance of the casting shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 6414.
The machining allowance grade can be selected based on the CT12 grade specified in
Table 1, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 10 of GB/T 6414-1999.
5.9 Weight tolerance
5.9.1 The weight tolerance of castings shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 11351-
1989.The weight tolerance grade of castings shall not be lower than MT13.
5.10 Surface quality
5.10.1 The surface roughness of castings, if not marked on the drawings, shall not be
lower than the provisions of Table 2.
5.10.2 The flow-through surface roughness of the open blades of mixed flow pumps
and axial flow pumps shall comply with the provisions of JB/T 5413.
5.11.4 The casting defects on the non-machined surface and machined surface of the
casting shall not exceed the provisions of Table 3.
5.13 Repair of defects
5.13.1 When the defects of castings exceed the provisions of Table 3, welding repair is
allowed if the strength and function of use can be ensured and the final accuracy of the
pump parts will not be affected by the welding repair of the castings. Welding repair
shall comply with the provisions of Appendix A.
6 Test methods
6.1 Test bars (blocks) and specimens
The preparation of test bars (blocks) and specimens shall be carried out in accordance
with the provisions of 8.2 of GB/T 9439-2010.
6.2 Mechanical properties test
The tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of 9.1 of GB/T
9439-2010.
The hardness test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of 9.3 of GB/T
9439-2010.
6.3 Chemical analysis
Chemical analysis shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of 9.5 of GB/T
9439-2010.
6.4 Metallographic examination
Metallographic examination shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of
9.6 of GB/T 9439-2010.
6.5 Inspection of geometric shape and size
Inspection of geometric shape and size of castings shall select inspection gauges of
corresponding accuracy. For parts or related dimensions that cannot be directly
inspected by gauges, templates or line-marking inspections may be used.
6.6 Nominal weight
The method for determining the nominal weight of castings shall comply with the
provisions of 3.2 of GB/T 11351-1989.
6.7 Surface quality
The surface quality of castings shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of
7.7 of GB/T 9439-2010.
6.8 Casting defects
The inspection of casting defects shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions
of 7.8 of GB/T 9439-2010.
6.10 Inspection of defect welding repair
The inspection of welding repair of casting defects shall comply with the provisions of
Appendix A.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection rights
The inspection rights shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of 10.1 of
GB/T 9439-2010.
7.4 Inspection items
The inspection items are.
7.6 Inspection of geometric shape and size
The geometric shape and size of the casting shall be inspected according to the drawings.
The first batch of castings and important parts shall be inspected piece by piece
according to the drawings. General castings and castings produced by the method of
ensuring dimensional stability can be spot checked; the sampling method shall be
agreed upon by the supplier and the buyer.
7.8 Shift value
The shift value shall be inspected piece by piece according to the requirements of 5.7.
7.9 Machining allowance
The machining allowance shall be inspected according to the requirements of 5.8.The
inspection rules shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of 7.6.
7.10 Weight
The weight and weight tolerance of castings shall be spot checked in accordance with
the requirements of 5.9.
7.15 Acceptance Items
If there are no special requirements, only the following items shall be accepted.
8 Marking, packaging, storage, transportation of castings
The marking, packaging, storage, transportation of castings shall comply with the
provisions of Chapter 11 of GB/T 9439-2010.

3 Terms and definitions

5.10.2 The flow-through surface roughness of the open blades of mixed flow pumps
and axial flow pumps shall comply with the provisions of JB/T 5413.
5.11.4 The casting defects on the non-machined surface and machined surface of the
casting shall not exceed the provisions of Table 3.
5.13 Repair of defects
5.13.1 When the defects of castings exceed the provisions of Table 3, welding repair is
allowed if the strength and function of use can be ensured and the final accuracy of the

6 Test methods
