Internal combustion engines - Paper-element oil filters - Part
1: Assembles - Specification
1 Scope
This Part of JB/T 5089 specifies the terms and definitions, technical requirements, test
methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage of full-flow
paper filter element oil filter assembly for internal combustion engines.
This Part applies to the full-flow paper filter oil filter assembly (hereinafter referred to
as the assembly), for small and medium-power internal combustion engines.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions, which are defined in JB/T 5089.3-2020, apply to this
document.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Original resistance
At rated volume flow, the original resistance of the assembly shall not be greater than
25 kPa OR the original resistance value as agreed upon by the supplier and purchaser.
The rated volume flow rate is calculated according to formula (l).
Where:
Q - Rated volume flow, in liters per minute (L/min);
A - Flow rate coefficient, which takes 0.009, in liter per square centimeter [L
(/min·cm2)];
F - The effective filtration area of the filter element, in square centimeters (cm2).
4.2 Original filtration efficiency
The original filtration efficiency of the assembly shall not be less than 60%. The test
impurities shall be the ISO 12103-M3 test ash, in GB/T 28957.2-2012.
4.3 Lifespan and cumulative efficiency
The assembly life and cumulative efficiency are as specified in the product drawings or
technical documents.
4.4 Cleanliness
The inside of the assembly shall be clean; its cleanliness limit is as follows:
a) When the rated volume flow rate is less than 14 L/min, it shall not be greater than
3.2 mg/(L/min);
b) When the rated volume flow is greater than or equal to 14 L/min, it shall not be
greater than 2.8 mg/(L/min).
4.14 Appearance quality
4.14.1 The outer surface of the product shall be flat and smooth, without defects such
as bumps, scratches, wrinkles, rough edges, sharp corners, burrs.
4.14.2 All parts of the product made of metal materials shall be subjected to anti-rust
treatment. The outer surface shall be even and smooth after surface treatment; there
shall be no sagging, dirt, cracks, bottom exposure or falling off.
4.14.3 All parts of the product made of non-metallic materials shall be strong and
reliable; they shall have no defects such as cracking and deformation, under normal
working conditions.
4.15 Others
4.15.1 When the assembly is equipped with a pressure regulating valve, its opening
pressure and hydraulic characteristics shall be as specified in the product drawing.
4.15.2 The connection dimensions and geometric tolerances between the assembly and
the host machine shall be as specified in the product drawings.
5 Test methods
5.1 Performance and reliability shall be tested, in accordance with the provisions of
JB/T 5089.3-2020.
5.2 Appearance quality inspection shall be carried out by visual inspection.
6 Inspection rules
6.1 General
Each product must pass the inspection by the technical inspection department of the
manufacturer AND be accompanied by a product exit-factory inspection certificate,
before it can leave the factory.
6.2 Inspection categories
Inspections are divided into exit-factory inspection and type inspection.
6.3 Exit-factory inspection
The product exit-factory inspection items are 4.5 and 4.14.
6.4 Type inspection
Type inspection items are all items specified in Chapter 4. If any of the following
situations occur, type inspection shall be carried out:
a) Type finalization and identification of new products;
b) After normal production, when the product structure, materials, processes have
undergone major changes, which may affect product performance;
c) When regular performance inspections are required, according to the requirements
of the product audit quality control plan,;
d) When the national quality supervision agency proposes requirements for type
inspection;
e) When users have requirements.
6.5 Spot checks
When users randomly inspect product quality, they shall conduct random inspections,
in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2828.1. The inspection items, group-batch
principles, sampling plans, judgment and re-inspection rules shall be implemented, in
accordance with the technical documents, which are agreed between the manufacturer
and the user.
7 Marking, packaging, transportation, storage
