GB/T 16935 "Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems” is divided into 5 parts. -- Part 1.Principles requirements and tests; -- Part 2-1.Application guide - Explanation of the application of the GB/T 16935 series, dimensioning example and dielectric testing; -- Part 3.Use of coating, potting or moulding for protection against pollution; -- Part 4.Consideration of high-frequency voltage stress; -- Part 5.Comprehensive method for determining clearances and creepage distances equal to or less than 2 mm This Part of Part 2-1 of GB/T 16935. This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part uses the translation method to equivalently adopt IEC 60664-2-1.2011 "Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems - Part 2-1. Application guide - Explanation of the application of the IEC 60664 series, dimensioning example and dielectric testing". This Part was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industry Association. This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee of Insulation Coordination for Low voltage Equipment Standardization (SAC/TC 417). The drafting organizations of this Part. Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute. The drafters of this Part. Zhang Jianbing, Wu Qingyun, Bao Ge.

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 16935, which is a technical report, serves as an application guide for technical committees and manufacturers specifying dimensioning requirements for products in accordance with the GB/T 16935 series.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. 3 Terms and definitions

In the following examples, overvoltage category III (Figures 5b and 5c) and overvoltage category II (Figure 5d) and pollution degree 2 are used to illustrate the dimensioning of clearances according to Tables F.2 and F.7 in GB/T 16935.1-2008. 6 Practical application of the GB/T 16935 series with regards to particular questions If the equipment incorporates components bridging the functional insulation between live parts connected to mains, the impulse test is applied as described in 6.3.2 and 6.3.3. 7 Examples of a dimensioning worksheet (based on case A as described in GB/T 16935.1-2008) Dimensioning of clearance and creepage following GB/T 16935.1 See Table 15 for example for dimensioning a clearance and creepage distance following GB/T 16935.1 in circuits not directly connected to mains supply.
