Foreword

This Standard closely combines domestic plastic product developments, and refers to technical contents of relevant domestic standards, to amend GB/T 8801-1988 "Test method for unplasticized PVC fittings by falling". This Standard replaces GB/T 8801-1988 "Test method for unplasticized PVC fittings by falling". Compared with the latter, the main change is the division of the requirements for the falling height: -- Fittings, whose nominal diameter is less than or equal to 75 mm, fall from (2.00 ± 0.05) m above the ground; -- Fittings, whose nominal diameter is greater than 75 mm and less than 200 mm, fall from (1.00 ± 0.05) m above the ground; -- Fittings, whose nominal diameter is equal to or greater than 200 mm, fall from (0.50 ± 0.05) m above the ground. This Standard was proposed by China National Light Industry Council. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of Sub-Committee of Plastics Pipe, Fitting and Valves, Committee of National Standardization for Plastics Products (SAC/C 48/SC 3). The drafting organizations of this Standard: Wuzhou Wuyi Plastic Product Co., Ltd., Sichuan Chuanke Plastic Cement Group. The drafters of this Standard: Huang Wanxia, Jiao Dachuan. 1 Scope

This Standard specifies the test method for unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) fittings by falling. This Standard applies to various uses of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC- U) fittings.

2 Principle

In this method, pretreat the fitting at (0 ± 1) °C for a prescribed period of time; let it freely fall from a prescribed height to a flat concrete floor within 10 s; observe the damage of the fitting.

3 Instruments and apparatuses

3.1 Stopwatch: the division value is 0.1 s. 3.2 Thermometer: the division value is 1 °C. 3.3 Constant-temperature water bath (ice water mixture inside) or cryogenic box: the temperature is (0 ± 1) °C.

4 Test sample and its preparation

4.1 The test sample is a complete fitting of injection molding. If the fitting is equipped with an elastic seal, it shall be removed before testing. If the fitting consists of more than one injection-molded parts, these parts shall be tested separately from each other. 4.2 The number of test samples shall be in accordance with the product standards. For the same batch of products of the same specification, at least take 5 test samples. The test samples shall be free of mechanical damage.
