1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, technical
requirements, tests, inspection rules, marks, packaging, transportation and storage for
room air conditioners.
This document applies to household and similar free-supply room air conditioners
(hereinafter referred to as air conditioners) that use air-cooled or water-cooled
condensers, fully enclosed motor-compressors, and whose rated cooling capacity is
below 14000W for the purpose of creating a comfortable indoor environment), as well
as ducted air conditioners whose rated cooling capacity is less than 8kW and external
static pressure is less than 25Pa.
This document does not apply to the following products and systems.
- portable air conditioners;
- individual components that cannot form a complete cooling system;
- air conditioners using absorption cooling cycle;
- other ducted air conditioners.

3 Terms and definitions, symbols
3.1 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1.1 room air conditioner
A device that supplies conditioned air to a room.
3.1.2 heat pump
A cooling system that heats up the indoor air by converting the flow direction of the
refrigerant in the cooling system, absorbing heat from the low temperature outdoor air
and releasing heat to the room.
NOTE. Air conditioners with heat pump heating capabilities are called heat pump air conditioners.
3.1.3 supplementary electrical heating devices
An electric heating device used with a heat pump for heating.
3.1.6 heating capacity
When the air conditioner is in heating operation under any given working conditions
and conditions, the sum of the heat sent into the room per unit time.
3.1.7 heating power input
The power consumed by the air conditioner during the heating capacity test.
NOTE. The unit is watts (W). The rated value of heating power input includes rated heating power
input, rated intermediate heating power input and rated low temperature heating power input.
3.1.8 effective power input
The average electric power input into the air conditioner within the specified time,
including.
3.1.9 energy efficiency ratio; EER
Under any given working condition and specified conditions, when the air conditioner
is in cooling operation, the ratio of cooling capacity to effective power input.
NOTE. The unit is watts per watt (W/W).
3.1.10 coefficient of performance; COP
Under any given working condition and specified conditions, when the air conditioner
is in heating operation, the ratio of the heating capacity to the effective power input.
NOTE. The unit is watts per watt (W/W).
3.1.11 standard air
Dry air at 20°C and at a standard barometric pressure of 101.325 kPa, having a mass
density of 1.204 kg/m3.
4 Product classification
4.1 Type
4.1.1 Air conditioners are divided into.
4.1.2 According to the structural form, air conditioners are divided into.
4.1.3 According to the main function, air conditioners are divided into.
4.1.4 According to the cooling method, air conditioners are divided into.
4.1.5 According to the compressor control mode, air conditioners are divided into.
4.2 Basic parameters
4.2.1 The preferred series of rated cooling capacity (in kW) of the air conditioner are.
4.3 Model naming
4.3.1 The product model and its meaning are as follows.
4.3.2 Model examples are as follows.
Example 1.KT3C-35/A, means T3 climate type, overall (window type) cold air-cooled
room air conditioner. Its rated cooling capacity is 3500 W. It is first redesigned.
Example 2.KFR-28GW, means T1 climate type, split heat-pumped wall-mounted room
air conditioner (including indoor unit and outdoor unit). The rated cooling capacity is 2800 W.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 General requirements
5.1.1 Air conditioners shall comply with the provisions of this document and other
relevant mandatory national standards. They shall be designed and manufactured
according to the drawings and technical documents approved by the prescribed
procedures.
5.2 Performance requirements
5.2.1 Sealing performance of cooling system
Test according to 6.3.1.Refrigerant leakage shall not be detected in each part of the
cooling system.
5.2.2 Cooling capacity
5.2.3 Cooling power input
5.2.3.1 Rated cooling power input
Test according to 6.3.3.The measured cooling power input of fixed speed and variable
speed air conditioners shall not exceed 110% of the rated cooling power input. For every
300 W cooling capacity of the water-cooled air conditioner, add 10 W as the rated power
input of the cooling system water pump and cooling water tower fan.
5.2.4 Heating capacity
5.2.5 Heating power input
5.2.7 Maximum operating cooling
The requirements for testing according to the test method in 6.3.7 are as follows.
5.2.9 Freeze dripping
Test according to 6.3.9.There shall be no visible ice falling, water dripping or blowing
out at the indoor side of the air conditioner.
5.2.10 Maximum operating heating
The requirements for testing according to the test method of 6.3.10 are as follows.
5.2.11 Minimum operating heating
When the test is carried out according to 6.3.11, the safety device shall not trip off
during the 1h test run of the air conditioner.
5.2.12 Condensation and condensed water removal capacity
The requirements for testing according to 6.3.12 are as follows.
5.2.13 Automatic defrosting
The requirements for testing according to 6.3.13 are as follows.
5.2.14 Noise
The requirements for testing according to 6.3.14 are as follows.
5.2.16 Seasonal total energy
Calculation of seasonal energy consumption efficiency is according to Annex B. The
calculated seasonal total energy shall not be greater than 110% of the indicated value.
5.2.17 Standby power
The standby power shall not be higher than 110% of the indicated value.
5.2.18 Indoor discharge air-flow
The indoor discharge air-flow shall not be less than 90% of the indicated value.
5.2.19 Weather resistance
The requirements for testing according to 6.3.17 are as follows.
6 Tests
6.1 Test conditions
6.2 Test requirements
6.2.5 No changes shall be made to the air conditioner except for the connection of
devices and instruments required for the test in the prescribed manner.
6.2.6 The air conditioner fan speed and air resistance shall not be changed during the
test. The test results shall adopt the values corrected according to the standard
atmospheric pressure.
6.2.7 When using the indoor air-enthalpy test method to carry out the cooling capacity
and heating capacity tests, see the measurement method for air volume in Annex F. The
test shall be carried out under the condition that the external static pressure is 0Pa.
6.2.8 The installation of air conditioners shall meet the following requirements.
6.2.9 For working conditions where the wet bulb temperature is below 0°C, the wet
bulb temperature can be controlled by controlling the relative humidity or dew point
temperature.
6.2.10 When the cooling capacity test is carried out by the room-type calorimeter
method or the indoor air-enthalpy test method, the latent cooling capacity of the air
conditioner shall be determined according to the measurement method for condensed
water (see Annex G).
6.3 Test methods
6.3.2 Cooling capacity
6.3.3 Cooling power input
Measure the power input and current of the air conditioner while performing the rated
cooling capacity, rated intermediate cooling capacity, rated minimum cooling operation,
and rated maximum cooling capacity operation according to the method given in Annex D.
6.3.4 Heating capacity
6.3.6 Heating power input of supplementary electric heating device
Heat-pumped air conditioner operates under rated heating (high temperature)
conditions. The heat-pumped air conditioner equipped with supplementary electric
heating device shall be tested by the method in 6.3.4.1.
6.3.8 Minimum operating cooling and freezing
The ventilation door and exhaust door (if any) for exchanging indoor and outdoor air
of the air conditioner are completely closed.
6.3.9 Freeze dripping
The freeze dripping test shall be performed immediately after the minimum operating
cooling and freeze tests have been completed. After reaching the freezing test
conditions specified in Table 2, carry out the following tests.
Cover the air return vent in the air conditioner. Run for 4 h after completely blocking
air circulation. The air path of the evaporator coil is completely blocked by frost.
Remove the cover after shutdown until the frost has completely melted. Then make the
fan run continuously at the highest speed for 5 min.
6.3.11 Minimum operating heating
Fully close the vent and exhaust doors (if any) of the air conditioner. The set
temperature, fan speed and guide grill are adjusted to the maximum heating state
without violating the manufacturer's regulations. According to the minimum operating
heating conditions specified in Table 2, make the air conditioner start and run until the
working conditions are stable and then run for 1 h.
6.3.13 Automatic defrost
If the air conditioner has special measures to ensure that no cold air (below 18°C) will
be blown into the room during the defrosting process, this test is not required. For an
air conditioner equipped with an automatic defrosting device, adjust the temperature
controller, fan speed (indoor fan at high speed and outdoor fan at low speed if they can
be adjusted separately), damper and guide grille to the normal use state specified by the
manufacturer.
6.3.14 Noise
According to the requirements of Annex I, carry out the noise test under the conditions
of rated cooling working conditions and rated (high temperature) heating working
conditions.
6.3.18 Additional tests for calculation of seasonal energy consumption efficiency
6.3.18.1 Low temperature cooling
Carry out the test according to the method given in Annex D. The air conditioner is
tested after continuous and stable operation for 1 h under low temperature cooling
conditions and specified conditions.
6.3.18.2 Low humidity cooling
Carry out the test according to the method given in Annex D. The air conditioner is
tested after 1 h of continuous and stable operation under low humidity cooling
conditions and specified conditions.
6.3.18.3 Intermittent cooling
Carry out the test according to the method given in Annex D. The air conditioner is
tested by the indoor air-enthalpy test method under intermittent cooling conditions and
the following conditions.
6.3.18.4 Intermittent heating

6.4 Measurement requirements
6.4.4 When the air conditioner is subjected to cooling capacity and steady-state heating
capacity tests, the reading tolerances of each parameter under test conditions shall
comply with the provisions in Table 6.When carrying out additional tests of seasonal
energy consumption, the reading tolerances of each parameter under the test conditions
shall comply with the provisions in Table 7.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection requirements
The safety requirements of air conditioner products shall meet the requirements of IEC 60335-2-40.2018.
7.2 Product inspection
7.2.1 Exit-factory inspection
All air conditioners proposed for delivery shall undergo exit-factory inspection. See
Table 10 for the test items, requirements and test methods of the exit-factory inspection.
Items with serial numbers (1~7) are mandatory inspection items for the product.
7.2.2 Random inspection
For the items of random inspection, see the serial number (8~19) items in Table 10.
Sampling of inspection items can be carried out according to GB/T 2828.1.The random
inspection items, batch size, sampling plan, inspection level and qualified quality level
of the batch-by-batch inspection can be determined by the manufacturer's quality
inspection department.
7.2.3 Type inspection
7.3 Determination for inspection
7.3.1 The safety items of the exit-factory inspection items are fatal flaws. As long as
one item fails, the batch of products will be rejected. After exit-factory inspection and
random inspection, all qualified samples can be delivered to the ordering party as
accepted products.
7.3.2 The safety items of the type inspection are fatal flaws. The safety items shall be
100% accepted. If one item is found to be unqualified, it is determined that this cycle
of products is rejected. Samples for type inspection shall be randomly selected from the
accepted finished products. Samples for type inspection shall not be delivered to the
ordering party as accepted products.
7.4 Product acceptance
The test items, requirements and test methods of the products leaving the factory and
random inspection are in accordance with the requirements in Table 10.The product
type test items, requirements and test methods are in accordance with the requirements
in Table 11.
8 Marks, packaging, transportation and storage
8.1 Marks
8.1.1 Each air conditioner shall have a durable nameplate fixed on an obvious place.
The relevant content stipulated in Chapter 7 of IEC 60335-2-40.2018 shall be marked.
The nameplate shall clearly mark the following items.
8.1.2 The air conditioner shall be provided with marks indicating the working
conditions, such as the marks indicating the direction of rotation of control switches
and knobs. Attach the electrical schematics where appropriate. For air conditioners with
health assistance functions such as purification and sterilization, if the health assistance
function affects other technical parameters, the relevant situation shall be stated in the
instructions for use.
8.1.3 The air conditioner shall have a registered trademark mark.
8.2 Packaging
8.2.1 Air conditioners shall be cleaned and dried before packaging.
8.2.2 The packaging of the air conditioner shall meet the requirements of GB/T 22939.7.
8.2.3 The following documents and accessories shall be attached to the air conditioner packing box.
8.2.4 The accompanying documents shall be sealed against moisture and placed in an
appropriate place in the box.
8.3 Transportation and storage
