Foreword
This Standard modifies and adopts EN 10219.1-2006 Cold Formed Welded Structural
Hollow Sections of Non-Alloy and Fine Grain Steels - Part 1. Technical Delivery
Conditions. The main differences are as follows.
— Grade and designation of steels follow the standards and designations in China;
— Sampling, test method and re-inspection rules follow the relevant national
standards.
This Standard replaces GB/T 6725-2002 Cold Formed Steel Sections.
This revision includes the following technical changes.
— Normative references are adjusted;
— Classification of yield strength of products is added;
— Fine grained steel is added;
— Assessment indicators for mechanical properties of products are added.
Appendix A of this Standard is informative.
This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Iron
and Steel of Standardization Administration of China.

Cold Forming Steel Sections
1 Scope
This Standard specifies cold forming steel sections in terms of order, classification and
code, dimension, shape, weight and permissible deviation, technical requirements,
test method, acceptance rules and packaging, marking and quality certificate.
This Standard is applicable to cold forming steel sections which are produced by
cold-deformed cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel sheet and strip on the continuous roller
cold forming units.
2 Normative References

3 Order
For the purpose of this Standard, the order contract or order form shall include the
following information.
a) Serial number of this Standard;
b) Product dimension;
c) Raw material designation and corresponding product yield strength grade;
d) Delivery weight (theoretical weight or actual weight) and delivery length;
e) Other requirements.
4 Classification and Code
4.1 According to section shape.
Cold-formed circular hollow section, circular section for short, code. Y
Cold-formed square hollow section, square section for short, code. F
Cold-formed rectangular hollow section, rectangular section for short, code. J
Cold-formed irregular hollow section, irregular section for short, code. YI
Cold-formed opening section steel, or opening section steel for short, having the
following codes depending on the section shape. JD (equal-leg angle steel), JB
(unequal-leg angle steel), CD (equal-leg channel steel), CB (unequal-leg channel
steel), CN (interior crimping channel steel), CW (exterior crimping channel steel), Z
(z-steel), ZJ (crimping z-steel).
4.2 According to yield strength grade. 235, 345, 390.
8 Acceptance Rules
8.1 Inspection and acceptance
Inspection and acceptance of cold forming steel sections are carried out by quality
inspection department of the Seller. The Buyer is entitled to re-inspect them.
8.2 Batching rules
Cold forming steel sections shall be accepted in batches; each batch consists of the
products with the same designation, made of the same raw materials and with the
same specification and same dimension. Each of products whose outer perimeter is
400mm or less shall be 50t or less; while each batch whose outer perimeter is over
400mm shall be 100t or less.
8.3 Re-inspection and judgment
Re-inspection and judgment rules of cold forming steel sections shall meet the
requirements of GB/T 17505.
9 Packaging, Marking and Quality Certificate
9.1 Packaging
9.1.1 Bundling
9.1.1.1 Cold forming steel sections are delivered in a bundled state; the packed cold
forming steel sections shall be placed regularly at one end. Each bundle shall contain
the same batch of cold forming steel sections. Maximum weight per bundle shall meet
those specified in Table 3.

9.1.1.2 Cold forming steel sections shall be secured by steel strips or bundled for
packing. They shall be bundled at three points if its length is 7m or less, or four points
if its length is 7m ~ 10m, or five points if its length is over 10m. The bundle positions at
the ends shall be spaced by 1m at most.
9.1.2 Encasement
9.1.2.1 Cold forming steel sections shall be encased if higher requirements are
proposed for the surface quality; the packaging box shall be solid and made of wood
or steel.
9.1.2.2 Each case shall contain the same batch number of cold forming steel
sections. If the products of different batch number will be put into the same case, each
batch number shall be bundled separately and then placed into the case.
9.1.2.3 Weight of cold forming steel sections per case shall not be greater than 4 t.
9.1.2.4 Packaging box shall be fastened by steel strips for packing or other methods
at the external part.
9.1.3 Others
Cold forming steel sections may be delivered in bulk if their theoretical weight is more
than 20kg/m.
9.2 Marking
9.2.1 Marking of the package
Each bundled or encased cold forming steel sections shall be embedded with more
than two labels or affixed with tags or provided with methods which enable the labels
to be kept. The label or tag shall be indicated with name and trademark of the Seller,
specification, designation of raw material, production batch number, product standard
number, weight, specified length, manufacture date and mark of quality inspection
department of the Seller.
9.2.2 Marking of bulk package
Each cold forming steel sections in bulk shall be affixed with tags or spray-printed with
marks on the surface close to the end. The mark shall be clear, visible and difficult to
fall off, and shall be indicated with name and trademark of the Seller, specification,
designation of raw material, production batch number, product standard number,
weight, specified length, manufacture date and mark of quality inspection department
of the Seller.
9.3 Quality certificate
Quality certificate shall meet the relevant requirements of GB/T 2101.
