This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard is a revision of GB/T 5611-1998 "Casting Terminology." Compared with GB/T 5611-1998, this standard is within the main technology
Changes in volume are as follows.
--- Removed 12 terms such as foundry branch, cast-weld, ductile ductile iron, etc.;
--- Added 27 terms such as casting auxiliary material and medium alloy cast steel;
--- Modify 219 terms such as sand casting, trial casting, and cast casting.
The revised standard has 1269 terms, 15 more than GB/T 5611-1998.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the basic terms of casting, casting alloys and smelting casting, modeling materials, casting process design and process equipment, sand casting
The terms and definitions for manufacturing, special casting, post-processing of castings, and quality of castings.
This standard is applicable to the formulation of casting standards, the preparation of technical documents, the compilation of textbooks and books, and the translation of documents.
2 basic terms
2.1
Casting casting
Melting metal, making molds (cores), pouring molten metal into molds, solidifying to obtain metal with a certain shape, size, and properties.

Sand casting sandcastingprocess
Casting method for producing castings using a sand mold.
2.3
Special Casting specialcastingprocess
Different casting methods than sand casting.
Note. such as investment casting, shell casting, ceramic casting, metal casting, pressure casting, low pressure casting, centrifugal casting, continuous casting and so on.
2.4
Cast casting
The molten metal is injected into the mold and solidified to obtain a metal part or part blank with a certain shape, size and properties.

Roughcasting
The castings to be further processed into parts or finished products should generally meet the requirements of the casting drawings.

Castings produced by sand casting.
