Announcement on Publishing the National Standard "Code for Acceptance of
Construction Quality of Industrial Equipment and Pipeline Insulation
Engineering"
"Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Industrial Equipment and Pipeline Insulation
Engineering" has been approved as a national standard with a serial number of GB 50185 - 2010 and
shall be implemented from December 1, 2010. Therein, Articles (Items) 3.2.6 (5), 5.0.4, 6.1.2, 6.2.2
(1), 6.2.5 (2), 6.2.8 (3), 7.0.2, 8.1.2, 8.1.3, 8.1.4, 8.2.2 and 9.0.4 are compulsory provisions and must
be enforced strictly.
Authorized by the Standard Rating Research Institute, this code is published and distributed by
China Planning Press .

Foreword
This code was revised based on "Standard for Inspection and Evaluation of Thermal Insulating
Work of Industrial Equipment and Pipeline" GB 50185-93 by the China Petroleum & Chemical
Engineering Survey and Design Association and National Administrative Center of Standardization of
Chemical Construction in conjunction with the departments concerned according to the requirements
of "Notice on Printing the Development and Revision Plan of Engineering Construction Standards
and Codes in 2006" issued by the former Ministry of Construction.
During the process of revising this code, the code development team revised, examined and
finalized based this code on extensively soliciting for opinions by wide investigation and study,
earnestly summarizing the practical experiences and making reference to the relevant international
standards and foreign advanced standards.
This code comprises nine chapters and five appendixes, which mainly covers. general provisions,
terms, basic requirement, material, attachment installation, construction quality acceptance of heat
insulating layer, construction quality acceptance of dampproof course, construction quality acceptance
check of protective course, and acceptance of project, etc ..
There have been some significant changes in this code in the following technical aspects.
Provision on term of"inspection lot" was added.
2 Provisions on the quality acceptance of "inspection lot" were added and requirements on the
measured values at the random inspection points of allowable deviation among the inspection lot were
increased.
3 Chapter 4 "material" was added, and the contents on the site sampling and inspection of all
kinds of materials were adjusted appropriately.
4 Chapter of "attachment installation" was added.
5 Provisions on quality acceptance of the heat insulating layers of "embedded layering method",
"smear method", "metallic reflective insulating structure" and "pipe-in-pipe" were added.
6 Section of "protective course made of felt, foil and cloth" was deleted and section of "nonmetallic
protective course" was added .
Provisions printed in bold type in this code are compulsory and must be enforced strictly.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People 's Republic of China is in
charge of the administration of this code and the explanation of the compulsory provisions, the Branch
on Chemical Industry of China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization is in charge
of the current management of this code, and the National Administrative Center of Standardization of
Chemical Construction is responsible for the explanation of specific technical contents . During the
process of implementing th is code, the relevant opinions and advice, whenever necessary, can be
posted or passed on to National Administrative Center of Standardization of Chemical Construction

1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code was formulated in order to unify the methods of construction quality acceptance of
industrial equipment and pipeline insulation engineering, strengthen the technical management and
ensure the engineering quality.
1.0.2 This code applies to the acceptance of construction quality of industrial equipment and pipeline
engineering with the internal medium temperature greater than or equal to - 196'C but less than or
equal to +850'C.
1.0.3 This code shall be used in conjunction with the current national standards "Unified Standard
for Constructional Quality Acceptance of Industrial Installation Engineering" GB 50252 and "Code
for Construction oflndustrial Equipment and Pipeline Insulation Engineering" GB 50126.
1.0.4 This code specifies the basic requirements for the acceptance of construction quality of
industrial equipment and pipeline insulation engineering, and it shall be enforced according to the
requirements of the national laws and administrative regulations if this code conflicts with the
requirements ofthe national laws and administrative regulations.
1.0.5 The acceptance of construction quality of industrial equipment and pipeline insulation
engineering shall not only comply with this code, but also shall meet those specified in the relevant
current standards of the state.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Inspection lot
An inspection body composed of a certain quantity of samples collected for inspection according
to the same production conditions or the specified mode.
2.0.2 Allowable deviation
Provided that the safety and functions of use of engineering can be met, it is allowed that a small
