Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 469-2005, Lead Ingots.
Compared with 469-2005, the main technical changes of this Standard are as follows.
-- adds the requirements for impurities cadmium and nickel in designation Pb99.994,
which are not greater than 0.000 2% and 0.0002% respectively; changes the
content of antimony from 0.000 8% to 0.000 7%; and
-- deletes colour coding.
This Standard modifies and adopts BS EN 12659.1999, Lead and Lead Alloys – Lead.
Compared with BS EN 12659.1999, the main technical changes of this Standard are
as follows.
-- adds designation Pb99.994;
-- adds the requirements for impurity iron in the impurity compositions of all
designations. The iron contents of 4 designations are not greater than 0.001 0%,
0.001 0%, 0.002 0% and 0.002 0%; and
-- changes the impurity Cu content in designation Pb99.990 from 0.000 5% to
0.001%.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Standardization Technical
Committee on Nonferrous Metals (SAC/TC 243).

1 Application Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules and
packaging, marking, transportation and quality certification for lead ingots.
This Standard applies to lead ingots manufactured by electrolytic process or pyro-
refining.
2 Normative References

3 Requirements
3.1 Product classification
Lead ingots are classified into 5 designations in accordance with chemical
compositions. Pb99.994, Pb99.990, Pb99.985, Pb99.970 and Pb99.940.
3.2 Chemical composition
3.2.1 The chemical composition of lead ingots shall conform to the requirements
given in Table 1.
5.5.2 When the physical specifications and surface conditions of lead ingots do not
conform to this Standard or contract (or indent), then it is determined to be rejectable
by batch.
5.5.3 The rounding of inspection results of impurity elements and the expression and
judgment of rounded numerical values are specified in GB/T 8170.
6 Packaging, Marking, Transportation and Storage
and Quality Certification
6.1 Packaging
6.1.1 Small lead ingots shall be bundled with corrosion-resistant packaging string of
appropriate strength. Large lead ingots are delivered without packaging.
6.1.2 When the purchaser has any special requirement for the packaging of lead
ingots, it shall be agreed by the supplier and the purchaser.
6.2 Marking
6.2.1 Each lead ingot shall be marked with trademark and batch number by casting
or stamping.
6.2.2 Each bundle of lead ingots shall be provided with marking which is legible and
indelible, indicating manufacturer name, product name, designation, batch number and
net weight.
6.3 Transportation and storage
6.3.1 Lead ingots shall be shipped by a transportation means without corrosive
materials and protected from rain.
