1 Scope
This document specifies the use of a complete pipe section sample to test pipeline steel in an acidic environment (a low pH aqueous solution containing H2S)
Test method for susceptibility to cracking in medium.
This document applies to the cracking susceptibility of seamless, longitudinally welded, spirally welded or girth welded pipes in sour environments.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
strain
The ratio of length change per unit length (eg mm/mm).
Note. It is usually expressed as microstrain (με, that is, the parts per million of strain).
3.2
principal strain principalstrain
The maximum and minimum strain levels at a point on the measurement surface that are 90° from each other are calculated from the measured strain values.
4 Reagents
4.1 The purity of the test gas H2S should be greater than 99.9%.
4.2 Nitrogen, argon or other suitable gas with a purity of not less than 99.998% should be used, which will not react chemically with the reagent (or test solution).
