Automatic Rescue Operation Device for Lifts
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the technical requirements, automatic rescue power supply,
test methods, inspection rules, as well as marking, packaging, transportation and
storage of automatic rescue operation device for lifts.
This Standard is applicable to traction-driven passenger elevators and freight elevators
with power-driven automatic doors. Other elevators may take this document as a
reference.
This Standard is inapplicable to rescue operation with human intervention.

interruption of the power supply of the lifts.
3.2 Automatic Rescue Operation Device for Lifts
Automatic rescue operation device for lifts refers to the device that executes the
automatic rescue operation for lifts.
3.3 Automatic Rescue Power Supply
Automatic rescue power supply refers to the power supply provided by the electric
energy storage element or the combination of elements (for example, battery) to the
electric energy required for the automatic rescue operation.
3.4 Power Supply Failure
Power supply failure refers to the failure that causes the lifts to stop unexpectedly due
to the phase loss or abnormal voltage of the power supply.
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 General Rules
4.1.1 When a lift is equipped with an automatic rescue operation device, the device
shall be a part of the lift control system, and its failure shall not affect the operation
safety of the lift.
The automatic rescue operation of the lift shall not invalidate any electrical safety
device of the lift.
4.1.2 In addition to the requirements of this document, lifts used under special
circumstances (such as: lifts for the handicapped, and under fire conditions, potential
explosive environments, extreme climatic conditions or earthquake conditions, etc.)
shall also satisfy the relevant additional requirements.
4.2 Conditions of Use
4.2.1 Altitude
The altitude of the installation location shall not exceed 1,000 m.
When the altitude exceeds 1,000 m, the selection of low-voltage electrical appliances
shall be corrected in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 20645; the selection
of automatic rescue power supply shall be accordingly corrected in accordance with
its type.
4.2.2 Ambient temperature
a) The enclosure shall have a stable and durable protective function, and shall
be able to withstand the stress that might be generated during normal use,
transportation and storage;
b) When being installed outside the lift well, it shall satisfy the stipulations of
5.2.6.5.1 in GB/T 7588.1-2020;
c) The electrical and mechanical parts shall be easy to install, disassemble,
maintain and operate.
4.4 Electrical Equipment and Its Connection
4.4.1 Electromagnetic compatibility
The electromagnetic compatibility of the automatic rescue operation device shall
comply with the stipulations of GB/T 24807 and GB/T 24808.
4.4.2 Protection against electric shock
4.4.2.1 General rules
The protective measures shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 16895.21-2011.
The enclosure of the automatic rescue operation device shall set up a warning sign
with the graphical symbol 5036 in GB/T 5465.2-2008. The warning sign shall be clearly
visible on the door or cover of the enclosure.
4.4.2.2 Basic protection (protection against direct contact)
In addition to the requirements of 4.4.2.1, it shall also satisfy the requirements of
5.10.1.2.2 in GB/T 7588.1-2020.
4.4.2.3 Protection against residual voltage
It shall comply with the stipulations of 6.2.4 in GB/T 5226.1-2019.
4.4.2.4 Additional protection
It shall comply with the stipulations of 5.10.1.2.3 in GB/T 7588.1-2020.
4.4.3 Insulation resistance
It shall comply with the stipulations of 5.10.1.3 in GB/T 7588.1-2020.
4.4.4 Voltage-withstanding requirements
Apply twice the highest voltage of the circuit between the power input circuit to the
ground and the power output circuit to the ground of the automatic rescue operation
device, then, add 1,000 V of 50 Hz sinusoidal alternating current for 1 min, and there
4.5 Protection against Electrical Failures
Any of the following single electrical equipment failures that occur in the automatic
rescue operation device, except for the conditions described in 5.11.1.3 of GB/T
7588.1-2020 and 5.15 of GB/T 7588.2-2020, shall not become a cause for lift hazards
and failures by itself:
a) No voltage;
b) Voltage drop;
c) Conductor (line) is interrupted;
d) Insulation damage to the ground or metal components;
e) Short circuit or open circuit of electrical elements (such as: resistors,
capacitors, transistors and lamps, etc.) and changes in parameters or
functions;
f) The movable armature of contactor or relay is not closed or incompletely
closed;
g) The movable armature of contactor or relay does not release;
h) The contact point is not disconnected;
i) The contact point is not closed;
j) Phase dislocation.
4.6 Operation of Automatic Rescue Operation Device
4.6.1 General rules
The automatic rescue operation device shall have a component to automatically isolate
the power supply of the lift. When the automatic rescue operation device is put into
automatic rescue operation, this component shall be able to cut off the power supply
of the lift. When the component has any failure of c), e), f), g), h) or i) in 4.5, it shall
prevent automatic rescue operation of the lift and be able to provide a signal of failure.
When the automatic rescue operation device is put into automatic rescue operation, if
the power supply of the lift is restored, it shall not affect the safe operation of the lift.
During the automatic rescue operation, leveling, re-leveling and preparatory operations
of the lift when the door is opened shall be prevented.
NOTE: please refer to Appendix A for a flow chart of typical automatic rescue operation of
the lifts.

4.6.5 Auditory and visual signals
During the automatic rescue operation, the auditory signal in the car shall take effect;
the sound level of the auditory signal at 1 m above the center of the car floor shall be
35 dB ~ 65 dB. Visual signals shall be provided in the car.
4.6.6 Limits of motor running time
4.6.6.1 The automatic rescue operation device shall be equipped with the function of
limiting the motor running time. Under the following circumstances, disconnect the
power supply of the driving host and maintain it in the power-off state:
a) When the lift is actuated, the driving host does not run;
b) When the car or counterweight moves downwards, it stops due to obstacles,
causing the traction rope to slip on the traction sheave.
4.6.6.2 The function of limiting motor running time shall take effect when it is not greater
than the smaller one of the following two time values:
a) 45 s;
b) The time for the lift to run the maximum distance between floors at the speed
of the automatic rescue operation, plus 10 s. If the running time is less than
10 s, then, the minimum value is 20 s.
5 Automatic Rescue Power Supply
5.1 Requirements for Safe Use
5.1.1 The safety and usability of the automatic rescue power supply shall satisfy the
requirements of relevant standards, such as: GB/T 19638.1 and JB/T 11137, etc. For
example, when lead-acid batteries are used, it shall satisfy the requirements of GB/T
19638.1; when lithium-ion batteries are used, it shall satisfy the requirements of JB/T
11137.
5.1.2 The capacity of the automatic rescue power supply shall satisfy the energy
required for automatic rescue operations under the following conditions:
a) The car is loaded with 60% of the rated load;
6.2 Insulation and Voltage-withstanding Tests
6.2.1 Test preparation
Before the insulation test and voltage-withstanding test, all circuits containing
electronic parts and components shall be disconnected.
6.2.2 Insulation test
In accordance with the method of 5.11.1 in GB/T 10059-2009, conduct the insulation
test and determine the compliance with the stipulations of 4.4.3.
6.2.3 Voltage-withstanding test
After the insulation test result complies with the stipulations, the voltage-withstanding
test may be performed.
Use a voltage-withstanding tester to respectively test the power input circuit to the
ground and the power output circuit to the ground of the automatic rescue operation
device. The test voltage shall start from zero; after being raised to the specified voltage,
it shall maintain for 1 min. Then, record and determine the compliance with the
stipulations of 4.4.4.
6.3 Electromagnetic Compatibility Test
6.3.1 Launching test
In accordance with the stipulations of GB 4824, conduct the launching test. Record
and determine the compliance with the stipulations of 4.4.1.
6.3.2 Immunity test
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 17626.2, GB/T 17626.3, GB/T 17626.4,
GB/T 17626.5, GB/T 17626.6 and GB/T 17626.11, conduct the immunity test. Record
and determine the compliance with the stipulations of 4.4.1.
6.4 Tests of Protective Functions
6.4.1 Overcurrent protection test
Make the output current of the automatic rescue operation device of the lift exceed the
specified value of its working current; record and determine whether the device
complies with the stipulations of 4.4.6.2.
6.4.2 Test of degree of protection provided by enclosure
In accordance with the stipulations of GB/T 4208, conduct the test of degree of
protection provided by enclosure. Record and determine whether the degree of
the compliance with the stipulations of 4.6.2.1.4.
6.6 Performance Test
6.6.1 Auditory signal test in the car
Put the lift in the automatic rescue operation state; at 1 m above the center of the car
floor, test the auditory signal; determine whether the sound level complies with the
stipulations of 4.6.5.
6.6.2 Operating speed test of automatic rescue operation
In accordance with the following conditions, respectively carry out the automatic rescue
operation; measure the maximum operating speed of the lift car; record and determine
its compliance with the stipulations of 4.6.2.2:
a) No-load car goes up;
b) Fully-loaded car goes down;
c) The car loaded with 50% of the rated load goes up;
d) The car loaded with 50% of the rated load goes down.
6.6.3 Leveling accuracy test
In accordance with the following conditions, respectively carry out the automatic rescue
operation. After the car is leveled, in the middle of the door opening width, measure
the vertical height difference between the upper surface of the landing door sill and the
upper surface of the car door sill. Record and determine the compliance with the
stipulations of 4.6.2.3:
a) No-load car goes up;
b) Fully-loaded car goes down;
c) The car loaded with 50% of the rated load goes up;
d) The car loaded with 50% of the rated load goes down.
6.6.4 Leveling position automatic door control test
Put the lift car within the range of leveling accuracy specified in 4.6.2.3; maintain the
main switch of the lift closed; cut off the power supply of the lift; determine the
compliance with the stipulations of 4.6.3.
6.6.5 Automatic rescue power supply capacity test
The lift car loaded with 60% of the rated load runs upwards for the maximum distance
