Determination of Benzene Series in Reclaimed Water Quality
Gas chromatography
1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination method of benzene series in reclaimed water-gas chromatography.
This standard applies to the contents of eight benzene series such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, o-xylene, meta-xylene, p-xylene, styrene and cumene in reclaimed water
For the measurement in the range of 0.5μg/L~100μg/L. This standard is also applicable to the determination of benzene series content in surface water, industrial water and domestic water.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Benzene series
Benzene and its derivatives.
Note. Benzene series include benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, cumene, styrene and eight compounds of o-xylene, m-xylene and p-xylene.
3.2
Full program blank
Fill the sample bottle with water, seal it and bring it to the site, open and seal it at the same time as the sample bottle for sampling, and transport it back to the laboratory as per the sample
The operation steps are processed and determined to check whether the whole process from sample collection to analysis is contaminated.
4 Principle
The benzene series in the sample is purged by high-purity nitrogen and adsorbed in the trapping tube. The trapping tube is heated and blown back with high-purity nitrogen to be thermally desorbed.
After the incoming components are separated by gas chromatography, they are detected with a hydrogen flame ionization detector (FID) to qualitatively use the retention time.
Quantitatively calculate the content of each component based on the peak height or peak area.
5 Reagents or materials
Warning---The strong acid used in this standard is corrosive. Avoid inhalation or contact with the skin when using it. Splash on the body and use a large amount immediately
Rinse with water, and seek medical attention immediately in severe cases. Organic reagents have strong volatility and toxicity, are harmful to human health and flammable.
Carry out in a wind hood to prevent contact with open flames, and wear protective equipment as required. When inhaling, you should quickly evacuate the scene to a place with fresh air
