This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020
"Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents".
This document is Part 2 of GB/T 3880 "Wrought aluminum and aluminum alloy plates,
sheets and strips for general engineering". GB/T 3880 has published the following parts:
- Part 1: Technical conditions of delivery;
- Part 2: Mechanical properties;
- Part 3: Tolerances on forms and dimensions.
This document replaces GB/T 3880.2-2012 "Wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy
plates, sheets and strips for general engineering - Part 2: Technical conditions of
delivery". Compared with GB/T 3880.2-2012, in addition to structural adjustments and
editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

1 Scope
This document specifies the wrought aluminum and aluminum alloy plates, sheets and
strips for general engineering.
This document is applicable to hot-rolled or cold-rolled plates and strips of Wrought
aluminum and aluminum alloy plates, sheets and strips for general engineering
(hereinafter referred to as "plates and strips").

This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and definitions
This document has no terms and definitions that need to be defined.
4 Mechanical properties
The room temperature tensile mechanical properties of plates and strips shall comply
with the provisions of Table 1. The bending test shall be carried out according to the
bending radius specified in Table 1; the surface of the specimen shall not crack. For
plate and strip products whose mechanical properties are not listed in the Table, the
mechanical properties shall be determined by negotiation between the supplier and the
buyer; meanwhile it shall be indicated in the order (or contract).

GB/T 3880 is divided into three parts under the general title of "Wrought Aluminium
and Aluminium Alloy Plates, Sheets and Strips For General Engineering".
— Part 1. Technical Conditions of Delivery;
— Part 2. Mechanical Properties;
— Part 3. Tolerances on Forms and Dimensions.
This Part is part 2 of GB/T 3880.
This Part was drafted according to the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 3880.2-2006 "Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy Plates
Sheets and Strips for General Engineering - Part 2. Mechanical Properties".
Compared with GB/T 3880.2-2006, the main technical changes in this Part are as
follows.
— Alloys 1070A, 1080A, 2017A, 2A12, 2A14, 2014A, 2E12, 2219, 3103, 3A21,
4006, 4007, 4015, 5A02, 5005A, 5040, 5049, 5449, 5050, 5251, 5154A, 5754,
5454, 5383, 6016, 7020, 7021, 7022, 7A04, 7A09, 7475, 8011 and 8079 were
added;
— Partial properties of original alloys 1050A, 1100, 1200, 3003 (except tempers
H14 and H24), 3004, 5005, 5052, 5083, 5086, 6061, 6082, 8011A and 7075 were
modified.
This Part uses redrafting method and references to EN 485-2.2008 "Aluminium and
Aluminium Alloys - Sheet, Strip and Plate - Part 2. Mechanical Properties", ASTM
B209M-07 "Aluminum and Aluminum Alloy Sheet and Plate" and JIS H4000.2006
"Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys - Sheets, Strips and Plates". This Part is not
equivalent to EN 485-2.2008, ASTM B209M-07 and JIS H4000.2006.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee 243 on
Nonferrous Metals of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 243).

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 3880 specifies mechanical properties of wrought aluminium and
aluminium alloy plates, sheets and strips for general engineering applications.
This Part is applicable to wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy plates, sheets and
strips (hereafter referred to as “plates, sheets and strips”) for general engineering
applications.
2 Mechanical Properties
Tensile testing of plates, sheets and strips under room temperature shall be in
accordance with those specified in Table 1. During bending properties testing, the bend
radius shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1. Plates, sheets and strips
after bending test shall be free from crack on the surface. For the mechanical
properties of plates, sheets and strips with a thickness exceeding those specified in
Table 1, the actual measured results shall be accompanied.
