This Document adopts the re-drafting method in the modification and adoption of ISO/IEC 80079-38.2016 Explosive Atmospheres - Part 38.Equipment and Components in Explosive Atmospheres in Underground Mines. This Document makes the following structural adjustments. ---Due to the deletion of the term 3.1 “Protection against Firedamp Explosions” in ISO/IEC 80079-38.2016, the sequence of other terms is adjusted; ---The sequence of appendixes is adjusted. The previous Appendix E is adjusted to Appendix A; the previous Appendix D is adjusted to Appendix B; the previous Appendix A is adjusted to Appendix C; the previous Appendix B is adjusted to Appendix D; the previous Appendix C is adjusted to Appendix E. In comparison with ISO/IEC 80079-38.2016, the technical differences and the causes for these differences are as follows. ---In terms of Normative References, this Document makes adjustments with technical differences to adapt to the technical conditions of China. The adjustments are intensively reflected in Chapter 2 “Normative References”. See the specific adjustments below.  GB/T 3685, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 340 (see 6.2);  GB/T 3836.1, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60079-0 (see Chapter 1);  GB/T 3836.18, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60079-25 (see 4.4.6.3);  GB/T 3836.28-2021, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 80079-36.2016 (see Chapter 1);  GB/T 3836.29-2021, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 80079-37.2016 (see 5.3.1.4);  GB/T 4208, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60529 (see 5.3.2);  GB/T 5226.1, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60204-1 (see 4.4.3.1);  GB 5226.3, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 60204-11 (see 4.4.3.1);  GB/T 8642, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 14916 (see A.2);  GB/T 9239.1, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 1940-1 (see 5.3.1.6);  GB/T 16855.1, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 13849-1 (see 5.1.1);  GB/T 18380.11, GB/T 18380.12 and GB/T 18380.13, which equivalently adopt international standard, are used to replace IEC 60332-1 (all parts) (see 6.5);  GB 28526, which equivalently adopts international standard, is used to replace IEC 62061 (see 5.1.1);  GB/T 31523.1, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 7010 (see 7.1);  GB/T 34560.5, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 630-5 (see 5.3.1.1);  SH/T 0785, which modifies and adopts international standard, is used to replace ISO 14935 (see 6.3);  ISO 15029-2 is used to replace ISO/TS 15029-2 (see 6.3);  The reference of GB/T 13813 is added (see 5.3.1). ---The term “Protection against Firedamp Explosions”, which does not appear in the main text, is deleted. ---The situation in 4.4.3.1 that the setting of the overload tripping device may be above the nominal current of the motor is deleted. The original intension of deleting the content is to loosen the range of overcurrent protection through temperature protection. However, overload protection and temperature protection are two different types of protection. Although overload will cause temperature rise, which may further trigger the act of temperature protection. If the two types of protection cooperate with each other, the setting will be difficult. ---In 4.4.3.1 “Overload Protection”, the requirement of complying with the relevant conditions when the certificate No. is followed by the symbols “U” and “X” is added. That is because the equipment with symbols “U” and “X” after the certificate No. has special requirements for relevant conditions. ---In 4.4.3.2, the requirement that the short-circuit protection shall comply with the requirements of the corresponding explosion-proof type is added to “Short-circuit Protection”. That is because if the short-circuit protection is externally set, it will involve the selection of explosion-proof type. ---4.4.3.3 “Electric Leakage Protection” is added to comply with China’s regulations on underground equipment. ---In 5.1.2.2 “Water Spray Systems”, the installation of water spray systems and monitoring of the minimum water pressure and / or minimum water flow are modified into the installation of internal and external water spray systems and monitoring of the minimum water pressure and water flow, so as to adapt to the current application of domestic equipment and the on-site working conditions, and to ensure that the water spray systems have the desired effect. ---In 5.2 “Rope Haulages for Level and Inclined Transport”, the number of laps of rope is modified from at least 2.5 to at least 3 to facilitate the measurement. ---In 5.3.1.3 “Inlet and Outlet Cones”, the requirement that inlet cones shall be constructed to a tolerance of  1.5 mm on diameter is deleted, because the tolerance of the inlet cones has basically no effect on the product performance. ---In 5.3.1.4 “Impellers and Impeller Rings”, “impellers shall be able to withstand a test run at a minimum of 1.15 times the maximum operational rotating speed for at least 60 seconds” is respectively modified into 1.1 times and 120 s to comply with the stipulations of relevant Chinese standards. ---In 5.3.1.5 “Clearance”, the requirement that the clearance shall not be less than 1 mm under any circumstance is added, so as to comply with the stipulations of GB/T 3836.1. ---In 5.3.1.8 “Materials”, Table 1 “Combination of Materials” is deleted; the requirement for the materials used for the rubbing track and the impeller is modified from complying with Table 1 into the usage of materials with the least ignition hazard from friction sparks and qualified in the inspection. That is because Table 1 does not consider the safety of the impeller impacted by foreign objects. If the matching materials for the rubbing track and the impeller stipulated in Table 1 are used, it is equivalent to loosening the application of aluminum alloys. Meanwhile, the requirement for the clearance between the impeller and the casing is modified from not less than the value provided in Table 1 to not less than 2.5 mm. That is because in China, coal mine fans have such requirements for the clearance of extraction fans, and what is stipulated in Table 1 is too small and unsafe, and also not easy to achieve, ---In 5.3.2 “Other Fans”, the ingress protection of the inlet and outlet of the fan is respectively modified into IP20 and IP10 to be consistent with GB/T 3836.1. ---In 5.10 “Gas Monitoring Systems”, the requirement of complying with the relevant regulations on the state mines is added to comply with China’s regulations on mines. ---In Appendix A, the test gas of the impact test is modified into the explosive mixture of methane oxygen-enriched air, so as to comply with the stipulations of relevant Chinese standards. This Document makes the following editorial modifications. ---In order to maintain consistent with the current standard series, the title of the Document is modified into Explosive Atmospheres - Part 30.Equipment and Components in Explosive Atmospheres in Underground Mines; ---A NOTE regarding the situation of exceeding the range of the standard atmospheric conditions is added to the Scope; ---A NOTE regarding Appendix B is added to 4.1; ---A suggestive NOTE regarding additional protective measures is added to 4.4.3.2; ---The NOTE regarding the international standard for internal combustion engines for explosive atmospheres is deleted from 5.4; ---The reference standard in NOTE 2 of 5.4 is modified; ---The NOTE in 5.10 is modified; ---GB/T 3836.2, flameproof and intrinsically safe type is added to the evaluation of electrical equipment in C.4; ---The Bibliography is modified.
