Titanium and Titanium Alloy Permissible Variations of Chemical Composition for Wrought Product Analysis 1 Scope This document specifies the permissible variations of chemical composition for titanium and titanium alloy wrought product (plates, strips, foils, pipes, bars, wires, forgings, profiles and castings). This document is applicable to the demand-side’s check analysis and arbitration analysis of the chemical composition of the product. This document does not apply to the supply-side’s analysis of the chemical composition of the product, nor does it apply to the check analysis of changes in the content of impurity elements (such as: hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen) caused by the demand-side’s reprocessing of the product. 2 Normative References The contents of the following documents constitute indispensable clauses of this document through the normative references in the text. In terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are applicable to this document. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document. GB/T 4698 (all parts) Methods for Chemical Analysis of Titanium Sponge, Titanium and Titanium Alloys GB/T 31981 Methods of Sampling and Sample Preparation for Chemical Composition Analysis of Titanium and Titanium Alloy YS/T 1262 Method for Chemical Analysis of Titanium Sponge, Titanium and Titanium Alloys - Determination of Multielement Content - Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry 3 Terms and Definitions The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 3.1 check analysis Chemical composition analysis conducted by the demand-side by taking samples from the processed products. 3.2 permissible variation of chemical composition The allowable difference between the actual measured value of the check analysis of chemical composition and the limit value specified in the product standard. 4 Technical Requirements 4.1 Permissible Variation of Chemical Composition 4.1.1 Unless otherwise specified in the product standard or order sheet, the permissible variation of chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy wrought products shall comply with the stipulations of Table 1. 4.1.2 The value obtained from the check analysis or arbitration analysis shall not exceed the upper limit of the chemical composition limit values specified in the product standard plus a positive deviation, nor shall it exceed the lower limit of the chemical composition limit values specified in the product standard plus a negative deviation. For the same element, only unidirectional deviation is allowed, and positive and negative deviations shall not occur at the same time. NOTE: the product standard stipulates that the aluminum content of the chemical composition of TC4 titanium alloy is 5.50% ~ 6.75%, and the chemical composition limit values specified by the product standard are: the upper limit is 6.75% and the lower limit is 5.50%. During the check analysis of chemical composition, if the analytical value of aluminum content is 7.15%, and its content exceeds the upper limit specified in the product standard by 0.40%, in accordance with the permissible variations of chemical composition in this document, the aluminum content in TC4 titanium alloy does not exceed the upper limit (6.75%) + positive deviation (+0.40%), then, the aluminum content of TC4 titanium alloy is qualified; if the analytical value of aluminum content is 5.10%, and its content exceeds the lower limit specified in the product standard by 0.40%, in accordance with the permissible variations of chemical composition in this document, the aluminum content in TC4 titanium alloy does not exceed the lower limit (5.50%) + negative deviation (0.40%), then, the aluminum content of TC4 titanium alloy is qualified. 4.1.3 For elements not listed in Table 1, the permissible variations of the chemical composition shall be determined between the demand-side and the supply-side through negotiation. ......
