Determination of 2 - thiobarbituric acid value of the direct method
1 Scope
This standard specifies the method of direct determination of 2-thiobarbituric acid (TBA value) without the separation of secondary oxidation products of fat.
This standard applies to animal and vegetable oils and fats, fatty acids and esters, glycol esters and so on.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

2-thiobarbituric acid value 2-thiobarbituric acid value
The absorbance, measured at 530 nm, of a 1 mg sample reacted with 1 mL of 2-thiobarbituric reagent.
Note 2 - thiobarbituric acid value without units, but 1mg sample dissolved in 100mL solvent and reagent measured absorbance value of a measurement
unit.
4 principle
The secondary oxidation product of the oil reacts with 2-thiobarbituric acid to form a condensate having a maximum absorption peak at a wavelength of 530 nm,

5 reagent
5.1 1-butanol. Moisture content of not more than 0.2%.
5.2 2-thiobarbituric acid.
5.3 TBA Reagents. Weigh.200 mg of 2-thiobarbituric acid in a 100 mL volumetric flask and dilute to the mark with 1-butanol. in room temperature
Place 12h ~ 15h to dissolve 2-thiobarbituric acid. Then filter with filter paper to remove insoluble residue. The filtrate was titrated with 1-butanol
100mL, and stored at 0 ℃ ~ 4 ℃ refrigerator spare. TBA reagents are stored and used for less than 1 week.
5.4 All reagents are of analytical grade, the experimental water should meet the requirements of GB/T 6682-2008 three water.
