GB/T 34640 “Classification and recycling and utilization of wrought aluminium
and aluminium alloy scraps” is divided into 3 parts.
- Part 1. Classification of scraps;
- Part 2. Recycling of scraps;
- Part 3. Utilization of scraps.
This Part is Part 1 of GB/T 34640.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part was proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee 243
on Nonferrous Metals of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 243).

1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 34640 specifies the grading and grouping requirements in the
classification of scraps for wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy enterprises.
This Part applies to the classification of scraps of wrought aluminium and
aluminium alloy enterprises (hereinafter known as scraps for short).
2 Normative references
The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document.

applicable to this document. For the undated references, the latest edition
(including all the amendments) are applicable to this document.

3 Classification
3.1 Grading
3.1.1 According to the scraps’ chemical composition, surface cleanliness, and
burning loss during recycling and utilization, the scrap grade is divided. The
grade division of specific scraps is as specified in Table 1. The scrap grade
determination shall meet the scrap requirements at this grade.
