Foreword
GB/T 34590 “Road vehicles - Functional safety” consists of the following
sections.
- Part 1. Vocabulary;
- Part 2. Management of functional safety;
- Part 3. Concept phase;
- Part 4. Product development at the system level;
- Part 5. Product development at the hardware level;
- Part 6. Product development at the software level;
- Part 7. Production and operation;
- Part 8. Supporting processes;
- Part 9. Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL)-oriented and safety-
oriented analyses;
- Part 10. Guideline.
This Part is Part 1 of GB/T 34590.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part uses the redrafting method to modify ISO 26262-1.2011 “Road
vehicles - Functional safety - Part 1. Vocabulary”.
The technical differences between this Part and ISO 26262-1.2011 and their
reasons are as follows.
- MODIFY the scope of this Part, from the original “applied to safety-related
systems that include one or more electrical and/or electronic (E/E) systems
and that are installed in series production passenger cars with a maximum
gross vehicle mass up to 3 500 kg.” to “applied to safety-related systems
that include one or more electrical and/or electronic (E/E) systems and that
are installed in series production passenger cars”;
- 2.3 architecture, modify the “functions” in the original text to “requirements”,
because the term “allocation” refers to the assignment of a requirement to
an architectural element, not a function;
- 2.32 element, modify the definition content in the original text, and clear the
scope of the element;
- 2.55 hardware part, modify the definition in the original text and add an
example for easy understanding;
- 2.66 initial ASIL, modify the definition content in the original text, ASIL is
resulting from the hazard analysis and risk assessment;
- 2.69 item, modify the definition content in the original text to make its
definition complete;
- 2.76 multiple-point failure, delete the note in the original text, because the
note leads to over definition and duplicate definition;
- 2.86 passenger car, modify the definition content in the original text, to
make it consistent with the definition in GB 7258-2012 “Safety
specifications for power-driven vehicles operating on roads”;
- 2.110 safety measure, modify the content of note 1 in the original text to an
example;
- 2.117 semi-formal notation, modify the example content in the original text,
SADT refers to the abbreviation of Structured Analysis and Design
Techniques, rather than the original System Analysis and Design
Techniques;
- 2.126 special-purpose vehicle, delete the note in the original text;
- 2.138 verification review, modify the content of note 2 in the original text,
and clear the purpose of the verification review.
This Part also made the following editorial changes.
- MODIFY the introduction of the international standard and its expression
and the content of Figure 1.
This Part was proposed and shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical
Committee of Auto Standardization (SAC/TC 114).

vehicles such as vehicles designed for drivers with disabilities.
Systems and their components released for production, or systems and their
components already under development prior to the publication date of this
Standard, are exempted from the scope. For further development or alterations
based on systems and their components released for production prior to the
publication of this Standard, only the modifications will be developed in
