Mechanical properties of fasteners - Bolts, screws, studs and
nuts made of non-ferrous metals
This standard equivalently adopts the international standard ISO 8839-1986
"Mechanical properties of fasteners - Bolts, screws, studs and nuts made of non-ferrous
metals".
1 Subject content and scope of application
This standard specifies the mechanical property marking system, indicators, test items,
test methods and markings for non-ferrous metal fasteners.
This standard applies to commercial fastener products such as bolts, screws, studs, nuts
made of copper and copper alloys or aluminum and aluminum alloys, which have a
thread diameter of 1.6 ~ 39 mm, whose thread dimensions and tolerances are in
accordance with GB 196 and GB 197.
This standard does not apply to set screws and similar threaded fasteners that do not
specify tensile strength or nut proof load.
This standard does not specify performance requirements for corrosion resistance and
conductivity.

7 Test methods
7.1 Tensile test
Tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of Articles 8.1 and
8.2 of GB 3098.1.
7.2 Torque test
Torque test shall be carried out in accordance with the method specified in Article 7.2
of GB 3098.6.
7.3 Proof load test of nuts
Proof load test of nuts shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of
Chapter 8 of GB 3098.2.
8 Marking of performance grade
8.1 Marking code
The marking code on the product shall be consistent with the marking code of
performance grade in Chapter 3.
8.2 Marking requirements and methods
8.2.1 Bolts, studs, nuts with thread diameter ≥ 5 mm shall be marked.
8.2.2 Mark with convex or concave characters on the top surface of the bolt head; or
with concave characters on the side of the head.
8.2.3 Mark with concave characters on the end surface of the stud.
8.2.4 Mark with concave characters on the support surface or side of the nut.
8.2.5 Marking of left-handed threads shall comply with the provisions of GB 3098.1 or
Article 9.3 of GB 3098.2.
