Summary This standard specifies the terms and definitions for the limits and grades of the rolling resistance of automobile tires, the limits and grade requirements and test methods for the coefficients of rolling resistance. This standard is applicable to new radial car tires and new miniature and light truck radial tires and new truck radial tires. But it does not include: tires with a nominal wheel diameter of not more than 10 inches and a nominal rim diameter of not less than 25 inches; T-type spare tires for temporary use only; special ST metric tires for road trailers, and high-passing radial tires for light trucks ; Truck tires, racing tires, studded tires and special off-road tires with a speed capability of 80 km/h (not included).

A.2 Establishment of the benchmark laboratory A.2.1 The benchmark laboratory is established based on the test data of multiple comparison laboratories. Two benchmark laboratories shall be established, respectively for: a) Test of rolling resistance of passenger car tyres and miniature and light truck tyres with a single tyre load index not greater than 121; b) Test of rolling resistance of miniature and light truck tyres with a single tyre load index greater than 121 and truck tyres. A.2.2 The relevant departments (third parties) shall be responsible for the establishment of the benchmark laboratory, and uniformly stipulate the quantity, requirements and serial number of the laboratory and confirm every two years. A.2.3 The establishment unit of the benchmark laboratory is responsible for establishing the correlation between the benchmark laboratory and each comparison laboratory, and gives a correlation coefficient for each comparison laboratory, and publish the correlation coefficient every two years. A.2.4 A set of calibration tyres shall be used for the establishment of each benchmark laboratory; each set of calibration tyres shall be at least 5 tyres of different specifications.
