Foreword
GB/T 2546 Plastics – Polypropylene (PP) Moulding and Extrusion Materials can be
divided into the following two parts:
--- Part 1: Designation System and Basis for Specifications;
--- Part 2: Preparation of Test Specimens and Determination of Properties.
This Part belongs to Part 2 of GB/T 2546.
This Part modifies and uses ISO 1873-2:1997 Plastics – Polypropylene (PP) Moulding
and Extrusion Materials - Part 2: Preparation of Test Specimens and Determination of
Properties (English Version) and its Amendment 1 of ISO 1873-2:1997-Amd1:2000.
This Part was redrafted according to ISO 1873-2:1997 and its Amendment 1 of ISO
1873-2:1997-Amd1:2000.
Compared with ISO 1873-2:1997, this Part has the major technical changes as follows:
a) Add test conditions of 230°C/5kg to “melt mass-flow rate” and “melt volume-flow
rate” in rheological properties of Table 3.
b) Add test item of “moulding shrinkage” in in rheological properties of Table 3.
c) Some normative references in ISO 1873-2:1997 have been revised; this Part
refers to the revised standard contents. See Appendix A for the comparison of
standard changes.
Appendix A of this Part is informative.
This Part was proposed by China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of Petrochemical Plastic Resin Product
Subcommittee of National Technical Committee for Standardization of Plastics
(CSBTS/TC 15/SC 1).

and Extrusion Materials - Part 2: Preparation of
Test Specimens and Determination of Properties
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 2546 specifies the methods of preparation of test specimens and the
test methods to be used in determining the properties of polypropylene (PP) moulding
and extrusion materials. Requirements for handling test material and for conditioning
both the test material before moulding and the specimens before testing are given here.
This Part also specifies the methods and conditions for specimen preparation and
properties determination. This Part lists the properties and test methods which are
suitable and necessary to characterize PP moulding and extrusion materials.
The properties have been selected from the general test methods in ISO 10350-1.
Other test methods in wide use for or of particular significance to these moulding and
extrusion materials are also included in this Part, as well as include determination of
the designatory properties specified in Part 1.
In order to obtain reproducible and comparable test results, it is necessary to use the
methods of preparation and conditioning, the specimen dimensions and the test
procedures specified herein. Values determined will not necessarily be identical to
those obtained using specimens of different dimensions or prepared using different
procedures.

reference in this Part of GB/T 2546. For dated references, the subsequent
amendments (excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Part, however,
parties who reach an agreement based on this Part are encouraged to study if the
