1. Scope
This Standard specifies the designation, ordering content, size, shape, weight, allowable
deviation, technical requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, package, mark and
quality certificate of hot rolled wire rod for prestressed steel.
This Standard is applicable for the manufacture of hot rolled wire rod for prestressed steel
(hereinafter referred to as wire rod).

3. Designation
The designation of steel is composed of Chinese phonetic alphabet (capitalized) of
“stress”, average carbon content and the symbols that distinguish the manganese
content. For example. YL77A, YL82B.

YL - Initial Chinese phonetic alphabets of “stress”;
72, 77, 82, 87 - Average carbon content specified in the standard (in 0.1‰);
A, B - Symbols that distinguish the different manganese contents in the chemical
components.
4. Ordering content
When placing an order, the following information shall be included in the contract.
a) Product name;
b) Standard No.;
c) Designation;
d) Nominal diameter of wire rod;
e) Size and shape’s accuracy level;
f) Weight;
g) Packing way and marking requirements (if required);
h) Other requirements.
5. Size, shape, weight and allowable deviation
5.1 Size, shape and allowable deviation of wire rod shall meet the provisions of Grade-B
