specified values, allowing one single value of one sample lower than the specified
values, but not lower than 70% of the specified values.
4.5.2 If the requirements of 4.5.1 are not met, but the test pieces lower than the
specified values are not more than 2 and the test pieces lower than 70% of the
specified values are not more than 1, the manufacturer may take another group of 3
test pieces from the same sample products; and after the test of the second group of
test pieces, the test unit is determined to be acceptable if the following criteria are met
at the same time.
a) the mean value of the 6 test pieces is not lower than the specified values;
b) the test pieces lower than the specified values are not more than 2;
c) the test pieces lower than 70% of the specified values are not more than 1.
If the above-mentioned criteria are not met, then the test unit is determined to be
unacceptable.
4.6 Rules for retest and determination
4.6.1 Sequential test (such as impact test)
In accordance with the criteria of impact test results specified in 4.5, when the results
are unacceptable, the sample products of the unacceptable test results shall be picked
out and scrapped, two samples products are taken from the rest of the test unit and a
new group of three test pieces are taken from each sample product. All the test results
of the two groups of test pieces shall be acceptable; or else, the test unit shall be
rejected.

and certification for section steel (steel bar and rod).
This Standard is applicable to hot rolling, cold drawing (rolling), forging and heat
treating section steel.
2. Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text,
constitute provisions of this Standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments

3. Inspection Rules
3.1 Inspection and acceptance
3.1.1 The quality of section steel is subject to the inspection and acceptance made by
the supplier's quality supervision department.
3.1.2 The supplier must ensure that the delivery section steel complies with the
requirements of this Standard; the purchaser is entitled to conduct inspection and
acceptance according to the provisions of the corresponding standards.
3.1.3 The purchaser shall conduct inspection for the length, weight and per bundle
number of section steel according to markings of each bundle of section steel before
dismantling it; those with quality discrepancy shall not be dismantled.
3.2 Bundle-batch rules
The section steel shall be subject to the inspection and acceptance in bundle; while
the bundle-batch rules shall be in accordance with those specified in the
corresponding standards.
3.3 Sampling quantity and sampling location
Sampling quantity and sampling location for the test shall be in accordance with those
specified in the corresponding standards.
3.4 Re-examination and decision rules
3.4.1 If the failed results are obtained from the test, and when only a single value may
be provided (for example, tensile test and bending test), the following methods shall
be adopted.
a) When the test unit is a single product, the same type of double-quantity test shall
be made for the disqualified item; for double-quantity test, all items shall be
qualified; otherwise, the product shall be rejected;
b) When the test unit is not a single product, unless otherwise agreed, the supplier
may either pick out the sample products from the test unit, or not pick out.
1) If the sample product is not picked out from the test unit, double-quantity of
samples shall be taken from the same bundle of products for the
re-examination of those disqualified items. The re-examination results shall
all be qualified.
2) If the sample product is picked out from the test unit, another two sample
products shall be selected from the same test unit randomly; then, test
specimens shall be prepared from the two sample products respectively.
Repeat the same kind of test under the same condition as the first test; the
testing results shall all be qualified.
c) When the products delivered in rolls are disqualified during the re-examination
process, that bundle of product may be inspected one-by-one; the qualified
product is allowed to be delivered.
3.4.2 When the testing results obtained by sequential method are disqualified, such
as impact test, it shall be determined in accordance with the requirements of 8.3.4.3.3
of GB/T 17505-1998.
3.4.3 When white flake appears, re-examination is not allowed.
3.5 Others

results", and "re-classification and rework", it may refer to 8.4, 8.5, and chapter 9 of
medium size section steel delivered by bundles may be not-marked one-by-one.
5.3 The section steel delivered by bundles (trays) shall be hung with at least two
labels for each bundle (tray); the label shall be marked with the purchaser's name (or
emblem mark), grade, furnace (batch) number, dimension (or model) and weight.
When the section steel is marked, it may not hang label.
5.4 The section steel painting shall be in accordance with those specified in the
related standards.
6. Quality Certificate

indication of the following content.
a) Supplier's name or trade mark;
b) Purchaser's name;
c) Delivery date;
d) Standard number;
e) Grade;
f) Furnace (batch) number, delivery state, processing function, weight, count or
