Foreword
GB/T 20634 “Non-impregnated densified laminated wood for electrical
purposes” contains the following parts.
- Part 1. Definitions, designations and general requirements;
- Part 2. Method of test;
- Part 3. Specifications for individual materials - Sheet produced from birch
veneer;
- Part 4. Specifications for individual materials - Ring produced from birch
veneer.
This part is part 3 of GB/T 20634.
This part, through modification, adopts IEC 61061-3-1-1998 “Non-impregnated
densified laminated wood for electrical purposes - Part 3. Specifications for
individual materials - Sheet 1. Sheets produced from beech veneer” (2nd version,
English version), considering the limitation of the tree resource varieties in
China, where birch veneer is mainly used to produce laminated wood products.
The main technical differences between this part and IEC 61061-3-1.1998 are
as follows.
- DELETE the technical requirements of P1R ~ P4R, and meanwhile
CHANGE the model C1R ~ C4R to C1B ~ C4B;
- SUPPLEMENT the sheet of thickness specification > 100 mm ~ ≤ 150 mm
as well as the allowable deviation requirements;
- IMPROVE the sheet straightness requirements;
- MAKE editorial changes to the text, for example, LIST all test methods into
a separate chapter; ADD the packaging, marking, transportation, and
storage.
This part was proposed by the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association.
This part shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Standardization
Technical Committee for Insulating Materials (SAC/TC 51).

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 20634 specifies the requirements, test methods, packaging,
marking, transportation and storage of non-impregnated densified laminated
wood for electrical purpose which is produced from birch veneer.
This part applies to the non-impregnated densified laminated wood for electrical
purpose which is produced from birch veneer.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this part
through reference in this part of GB/T 20634. For the dated references, the
subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this part; however, parties who reach an agreement based on this part are
