For the purposes of this Document, there are no terms and definitions apply.
4 Marking Names, Graphical Symbols and Meanings
The logo consists of 17 types of symbols, including a graphic symbol, a name, and an outline.
a) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for large
packaging are shown in Table 1.
b) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for small and
medium-sized packaging are as follows.
1) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for general
handling are shown in Table 2;
2) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for manual
handling are shown in Table 3;
3) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for
mechanical handling are shown in Table 4.
c) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for packaging,
transportation, and storage are shown in Table 5.
d) Commonly used marking names, graphical symbols, and their meanings for packaging
and storage are shown in Table 6.
NOTE. The superscripts surrounding the graphical symbols do not constitute the symbol's content and
are only used as a reference for their reproduction and application.
5.Marking Size and Color
5.1 Marking size
The marking frame is rectangular, while the graphical symbol frame is square. Generally, there
are 4 sizes, as shown in Table 7.If the package size is too large or too small, it can be enlarged
or reduced proportionally.
5.2 Marking color
The marking color is generally black.
If the packaging color makes the marking unclear, an appropriate contrasting color shall be used
on the printed surface. The background color of the black marking should preferably be white.
If necessary, other colors may be used for the marking. Red, orange, or yellow should be
avoided to prevent confusion with the dangerous goods marking.
6.Marking Application Methods
6.1 Use of markings
6.1.1 Large packages should be labeled with printed or adhesive labels. These labels can be
printed directly, adhesively, fastened, nailed, or sprayed. When printing markings, both the
frame line and the marking name should be included. For export, the Chinese marking name
and frame line may be omitted. When spraying, the frame line and marking name may be
omitted.
6.1.2 Where necessary, only the "Hand Hooks Prohibited," "No Trolleys Allowed on This Side,"
"Forklifts Prohibited," "No Clamping Here," "No Tumbling," "Stacking Mass Limit," "Stacking
Layer Limit," and "No Stacking" symbols may be hand-painted on the package.
6.1.3 Where necessary, the mass limit and layer limit values in the "Stacking Mass Limit" and
"Stacking Layer Limit" symbols may be manually modified.
NOTE. Over time, packaging quality may degrade and become unable to withstand normal handling
before reaching its destination. In this case, the parties involved will need to decide, based on the
transportation contract, whether to discontinue transportation and storage or continue using by adding
appropriate graphical symbols. If necessary, partially hand-painted graphical symbols are acceptable so
that appropriate graphical symbols can be added on-site to meet requirements.
6.2 Number and position of markings
6.2.1 Number of markings
The number of "Center of Gravity" and "Lifting Here" symbols shall be implemented as
specified in Table 1; the number of "Fragile, Handle with Care" symbols shall be implemented
as specified in Table 2; the number of "Clamping Here" symbols shall be implemented as
specified in Table 4; the number of "Upward" symbols shall be implemented as specified in
Table 5; and other symbols, if required by the packaging, shall be marked at least one.
6.2.2 Position of markings
To ensure safe, proper, and efficient handling of transport packages, symbols shall be
prominently displayed. The location of the "Center of Gravity" and "Lifting Here" symbols
shall be implemented as specified in Table 1; the location of the "Fragile, Handle with Care"
symbol shall be implemented as specified in Table 2; the location of the "No Trolleys Allowed
on This Side" symbol shall be implemented as specified in Table 3; the location of the "No
Clamping Here" and "Clamping Here" symbols shall be implemented as specified in Table 4.
The locations of the “Avoid Rain” and “Upward” symbols shall be implemented as specified in
Table 5.
