methods, inspection rules and packaging, mark, storage, and transportation of solar
control coated glass.
This Part applies to architectural solar control coated glass. Solar control coated glass
of other applications can refer to this Part.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this Part, the following terms and definitions shall apply.
3.1
Coated glass
Through physical or chemical methods, one layer or multiply layers of metal, metallic
compound or nonmetallic compound coatings are applied on the glass surface to
meet special requirements of glass products.
3.2
Solar control coated glass
Through the coating-layer, the optical property is changed. It refers to the coated
glass that has the selective reflection and absorptive action against the sunlight with
wavelength range of 300nm-2500nm.
3.3
Pinhole
Observed from the coating surface of coated glass, it refers to the transparent
dot-shape defects that are caused by glass not attached with coating-layer or
coating-layer too thin.
3.6
Dark stripe
Observed from the glass surface of coated glass, it refers to the strip-shape area of
which the brightness or reflection color is different from the entirety.
4 Product classification
4.1 Solar control coated glass is divided into offline solar control coated glass and
online solar control coated glass, based on coating process.
4.2 Solar control coated glass is classified, according to whether there is heat
treatment or types of heat treatment.
4.3 According to the difference of resistance to elevated temperature, the solar
control coated glass can be divided into temperable solar control coated glass and
non-temperable solar control coated glass.
5 Requirements
5.1 Requirements and test methods for solar control coated glass
The corresponding chapter of the requirements and test methods for solar control
coated glass are shown in Table 1.
5.2 Size deviation, thickness deviation, diagonal difference and curvature
5.2.1 Size deviation, thickness deviation, diagonal difference and curvature of
non-tempered solar coated glass shall comply with the requirements of GB 11614.
5.3 Appearance quality
5.3.1 Appearance quality of solar control coated glass substrates shall comply with
various substrates’ own standard requirements.
5.3.2 The appearance quality of solar control coated glass shall comply with the
provisions of Table 2.
5.6 Abrasive resistance
The absolute value of visible light transmittance difference value of specimen before
and after the test shall not be greater than 4%.
5.7 Acid resistance
The absolute value of visible light transmittance difference value of specimen before
and after the test shall not be greater than 4%. The coating-layer change shall be
uniform and the local coating is not allowed to fall-off.
6 Test methods
6.1 Size deviation, thickness deviation and diagonal difference
MEASURE the size deviation, thickness deviation and diagonal difference according
to the methods specified in GB 11614.
6.2 Determination of curvature
6.3 Determination of the appearance quality
6.3.1 Determination of pinholes, spots and scratches
In an environment not affected by the ambient light, put the specimen vertically at the
position 600 mm away from the screen.
6.3.2 Determination of stains and dark stripes
Under uniform illumination of natural scattered light, vertically PLACE the glass
specimen. The surface of glass faces the observer.
6.4 Determination of optical performance
6.4.1 Sampling methods
For non-tempered solar control coated glass, randomly DRAW 3 pieces of products
6.4.2 Determination methods
USE anhydrous ethanol to clean both surfaces of specimen. Test it according to the
methods specified in GB/T 2680 after natural drying.
6.5 Determination of color uniformity
6.5.1 Measuring methods
MEASURE according to the methods specified in GB/T 11942.Color uniformity is
expressed by chromatic aberration. The measured chromatic aberration shall be the
chromatic aberration of reflection color.
6.5.2 Sampling methods
6.5.2.1 Monolithic chromatic aberration sampling
CUT out 100mmX100mm specimen from the 4 corners and central part of any piece
of products, total 5 specimens. When sampling, the distance between the outer edge
of specimen and product edge shall be 50mm (as shown in Figure 4).
6.6 Determination of abrasive resistance
6.6.1 Sampling methods
Randomly DRAW 3 pieces from the same batch of products. CUT out
100mmX100mm of specimen on each piece of product, total 3 pieces. For tempered
and semi-tempered solar control coated glass, CUT out specimen from the
non-tempered solar control coated glass made by the same process.
6.7 Acid resistance
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection classification
7.1.1 Ex-factory inspection
Ex-factory inspection items shall be visible light transmittances in 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4;
and 5.5.
7.1.2 Type inspection
The inspection items are all the requirements specified in Chapter 5.
Type inspection shall be conducted in case of one of the following conditions.
7.2 Group-batch grouping and sampling
7.2.1 Group-batch
Continuously and stably produced products of the same process, same thickness,
and same nominal value of visual light transmittance can compose as a batch.
7.2.2 Sampling
7.2.2.1 During ex-factory inspection, enterprises may prepare reasonable sampling
plan to draw specimen, based on actual production conditions.
7.3 Decision rules
7.3.1 When measuring size deviation, thickness deviation, diagonal difference,
curvature and appearance quality. For test results of each piece of glass, when all the
above indicators comply with provisions of Chapter 5, it shall be qualified. For test
results of a batch of glass, if the unqualified number is not more than the rejection
number specified in Table 4, then the indicators of this batch are qualified; otherwise it
is unqualified.
8 Packaging, mark, storage and transportation
8.1 Packaging
8.1.1 Packaging wooden case or container and pallet shall respectively comply
with the provisions of JC/T 513, GB/T 6382.1, and GB/T 6382.2.
8.2 Mark
There shall have manufacturer’s name, trademark, product name, category,
specification, quantity and color, nominal value of visible light transmittance (if any),
production date, instructions, and signs of coating surface, handle with care, fragile,
rain-proof, damp-proof, and stacking direction, etc. on the packaging case (pallet).
8.3 Storage and transportation
