Part 6. Saddle method
1 Scope
This section GB/T 18318 specifies the use of saddle method for measuring the bending resistance and rebound rate of the fabric.
This section applies to the grip height greater than 15mm fabric.

3 principle
Will be a certain size of the specimen clamped to both ends of the sample holder, so that the specimen was semi-circular vertical ring, the ring part of the load imposed a certain load in the load
Under the action of the sample, the sample is flexed downward to a specified displacement and then returned to determine the corresponding bending resistance and rebound rate when the sample is bent a certain degree of displacement.
4 instruments and appliances
4.1 Instruments. It should include load cells, displacement sensors and control systems.
Force measurement error does not exceed ± 0.5%; displacement measurement range of at least 15mm, displacement measurement error does not exceed ± 0.1mm; run
Speed 50mm/min, accuracy of ± 10%.
Note. The sensor range is generally within 2N to meet the requirements.
4.2 sample holder. Clamping surface should be flat and nondestructive, no significant loose, good grip. Two jaw line should be the same height, spacing 15mm ± 0.1mm,
The distance from the jaw to the lower stop is 5mm ± 0.1mm. The effective width of the clamp is at least 50mm. The clamp should be placed on the workbench and should be stable.
