Fiber Grade Polyester Chip (PET)
1 Scope
This Standard stipulates the product classification, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements of fiber
grade polyester chip (PET).
This Standard is applicable to bright, semi-dull and full-dull fiber grade polyester chip
(PET) which takes terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol as the raw materials in
production. Other fiber grade polyester chips may take this as a reference.

terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are
applicable to this document. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest

3 Terms and Definitions
What is defined in GB/T 4146.3, and the following terms and definitions are applicable
to this Standard.
3.1 Bright Polyester Chip (PET)
Bright polyester chip refers to polyester chip (PET) that does not go through extinction
treatment.
3.2 Semi-dull Polyester Chip (PET)
Semi-dull polyester chip refers to polyester chip (PET) whose titanium dioxide content
is more than 0.20%, and less than or equals to 0.50 % (mass fraction).
7 Inspection Rules
7.1 Type of Inspection
Type of inspection may be divided into type inspection and exit-factory inspection.
Under the following circumstances, type inspection shall be conducted:
a) Stipulated periodic inspection;
b) When there are changes of product design, process and raw materials that
might affect product quality;
c) When the exit-factory result is largely different from the previous type inspection;
d) When a national inspection institution requests for type inspection.
7.2 Inspection Items
7.2.1 The various performance items in Table 1 are all items of type inspection.
7.2.2 Seven performance indexes in Table 1 (intrinsic viscosity, terminal carboxyl group
content, chroma, diethylene glycol content, powder dust, irregular chip, titanium
dioxide content) are exit-factory inspection items; the remaining is periodic inspection
items.
7.3 Group Batch Rules
Within a certain range, adopt periodic sampling to constitute an inspection batch
number. One production batch may be constituted of one inspection batch, or, it may
be constituted of several inspection batches.
7.4 Sampling Stipulations
7.4.1 In exit-factory inspection, samples shall be automatically taken by online sampler,
or, manually taken on the production line within a certain time interval.
7.4.2 The sampling of packed products shall comply with the stipulations in GB/T 6679.
The quantity of sampling packages shall comply with the stipulations in GB/T 6678.
7.4.3 Sampling amount for tests shall be not lower than 500 g. In arbitration, sampling
amount shall be not lower than 1,000 g.
7.5 Determination Rules
7.5.1 The determined value or calculated value of performance items shall be
compared in accordance with the rounded-off value comparison method stipulated in
GB/T 8170 and the limit values of the indexes stipulated in Table 1. Then, determine
