Foreword
This Standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 13912-2002 "Metallic coatings - Hot dip
galvanized coatings on fabricated iron and steel articles - Specifications and

of this Standard are as follows:
- ADD the terms 3.16 “Zinc melt” and 3.17 “Weld seepage”.
- 4.1 “General” incorporates the previous 4.2 “Base metal”; adjust the
previous 4.1 “Information to be provided by the purchaser” into Annex A.
- Adjust the previous 6.3 “Uncoating and renovation” into Annex E and make
supplements.
- Delete the previous Clause 7 “Test methods”. Incorporate the previous 7.1
“Appearance test” and 7.3 “Adhesion test” with the corresponding
provisions in Clause 6. Adjust the previous 7.2 “Thickness measurement
part” into Annex D.
This Standard uses the redraft law to modify and adopt ISO 1461:2009 "Hot dip

Foreword
This Standard modifies and adopts ISO 1461.1999 "Hot Dip Galvanized Coatings on
Fabricated Iron and Steel Articles - Specifications and Test Methods".
This Standard is redrafted according to ISO 1461.1999. The differences between this
Standard and ISO 1461 are listed in Appendix A.
The following modifications are made in this Standard; the technical differences
between this Standard and ISO 1461 as well as the reasons are listed in Appendix B.
— The standard name is changed to "Metallic Coatings - Hot Dip Galvanized
Coatings on Fabricated Iron and Steel Articles - Specifications and Test
Methods" according to the existing domestic series standards;
— Delete the foreword of ISO 1461;
— Use "this Standard" to replace "this International Standard";
— Quote the Chinese standards that partially adopt international standards;
— Combine the contents of Section 4.2 and Appendix A of ISO 1461.1999 into
Section 4.1 of this Standard;
— Divide the contents of chapter 6 of ISO 1461.1999 into Chapter 6 and Chapter 7
of this Standard;
— Requirements are put forward to the coating thickness of the hot dip galvanized
articles which adopt the zinc explosion to replace the centrifuging treatment or
adopt both of them at the same time;
— Safety requirements are put forward to the hot dip galvanizing for incompletely
dried articles.
This Standard replaces GB/T 13912-1992 "Metallic Coatings - Hot Dip Galvanized
Coatings on Fabricated Iron and Steel Articles - Specifications".
The main changes of this Standard, compared with GB/T 13912-1992, are as follows.
— If the coating thickness is larger than the specified value, then the galvanized
article surface is allowed to have dark or grayish color-unevenness;
— Safety requirements are put forward to the hot dip galvanizing production
process;
— The area of each uncoated surface is required not to exceed 10cm2;
