Foreword
This standard is drafted according to the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 12220-1989 "General Valve - Marking". Compared with
GB/T 12220-1989, the main technical changes of this standard are as follows.
--- Modify the standard name;
--- Modify the original marking’s item list, which is divided into Table 1 (marking
which must be used) and Table 2 (other markings), so that the items are marked
clearly and specifically, which meets the needs of the relevant regulations;
--- Change the original "pressure parts material code" into "body material
designation" and "bonnet material designation";
--- Add the applicable media, paired sealing material designations, flow coefficient,
maximum allowable operating differential pressure, operating pressure range at
valve inlet and outlet end, set pressure, flow area or flow diameter, rated
discharge or rated discharge coefficient, opening height and other markings as
well as the marking content of special types of valves;
--- Delete the quality and test marking, inspection personnel stamp etc.;
--- Add the marking requirements and general marking;
--- Change the labelings not less than DN50 AND the markings more than DN50
INTO the labelings not less than DN32 AND the markings more than DN320.
This standard, using re-drafting method, modifies-adopts ISO 5209-1977 "General
Industrial Valve - Marking" (English version).
Compared with ISO5209-1977, this standard has many adjustments in the structure,
and adds some new content. The main technical differences are as follows.
--- Add the normative references and corresponding references;
--- Add marking requirements;
--- Add the marking of characteristic parameters of regulating valves, reducing
valves and safety valves;
--- Change the labelings not less than DN50 AND the markings less than DN50
INTO the labelings not less than DN32 AND the markings less than DN320.
This standard was proposed by China Machinery Industry Federation.
The standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Valve Standardization

1 Scope
This standard specifies the contents of marking and labeling methods of industrial
valves.
This standard applies to industrial metal valves. If any valve product standard is
inconsistent with this standard, the requirements of the valve product standard prevail.
For other valves, it can be implemented by referring to this standard.
