Foreword
This Standard revised GB/T 1097-1979 Square and Rectangular Keys – Type and
Dimension.
The major differences between GB/T 1097-1979 and this Standard are as follows:
--- Modify the standard name from “Square and Rectangular Keys – Type and
Dimension” to “Square and Rectangular Keys”;
--- Change the limit deviation of key width, b, from “h9” to “h8” in the Table;
--- Delete “the weight of square and rectangular key (Type-B) per 1000 pieces kg≈”;
add “standard length range”;
--- Modify the making example into “GB/T 1097 Key 16×100”;
--- Add the marking example of “Type-A square and rectangular key, Type-B square
and rectangular key”.
This Standard replaced GB/T 1097-1979 since the implementation date.
This Standard was proposed by and under the jurisdiction of National Technical
Committee for Standardization of Shafts for Machinery and Accessories.

This Standard specifies the square and rectangular keys with width of b=8mm~45mm.
