Foreword
This standard replaces GB 9684-1988 "Hygienic Standard for Stainless Steel Food
Containers and Table Wares".
Compared with GB 9684-1988, the main changes in this standard are as follows.
- Modify the standard name;
- Delete the provisions for the designation of stainless steel;
- Add the unit conversion for physiochemical indexes;
- Add other requirements.

1 Scope
This standard is applicable to food containers, food production management tools and
equipment that use the stainless steel as the main-body.
2 Terms and Definitions
2.1 Food containers
The cooking utensils, dinnerware, tableware, and other containers that are used for
producing, processing, cooking and storing foods.
2.2 Dinnerware
The dinning tools such as knives, forks, spoons, and chopsticks that are used to
directly contact foods.
2.3 Main-body
The stainless steel part, in the stainless steel food containers and tableware, that
contacts foods.
3 Technical Requirements
3.1 Raw material requirements
3.1.1 Main-body materials
For main-body of the foods containers, food production management tools and
equipment, it shall adopt stainless steel material such as Austenite stainless steel,
Austenite · ferrite stainless steel, and ferrite stainless steel that comply with the
relevant national standards. For dinnerware AND drilling and grinding tools of food
production mechanical equipment, the main-body may also adopt Martensite
stainless steel materials.
3.1.2 Non-main-body materials
Non-main-body that contacts food in the food containers and mechanical equipment
may be made of other materials such as metal, glass, rubber and plastics. However,
