GB 6675 is a series of standards about toy safety, containing the following
- Basic code (GB 6675.1);
- Mechanical and physical properties (GB 6675.2), Flammability (GB
6675.3), Migration of certain elements (GB 6675.4);
- Specific requirements for specific products.
This Part is a combination use of mechanical and physical properties (GB
6675.2) and GB 6675.1, GB 6675.3, GB 6675.4, GB 19865 (applicable to
electric toys) in toy safety series standard general requirements.
This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB 6675-2003 National safety technical code for toys.
Compared with sub-clause 4.1 and Annex A of GB 6675-2003, the main
modifications in this Part are as follows.
- deleted Annex A.A Battery powered toys of GB 6675-2003;
re-numbered other annexes;
- included the sound requirements and test methods in the text; added
definitions; made great modification to the content; deleted Annex A.F of
GB 6675-2003;
- modified the boundaries of the age group; for example, modified
“including and under 36 months” to “under 36 months”;
- added definitions related to magnet, see 4.5.8 “Hemispheric-shaped
toys”, 4.29 “Magnets and magnetic parts”, 5.26 “Magnet tensile test”,
5.27 “Magnetic flux index”, 5.28 “Magnet impact test”, 5.29 “Magnet
soaking test”, B.2.20 “Magnetic / electrical performance test equipment
for children aged 8 years and older”, Annex D “Toy gun mark” and E.43
“Magnet”, etc.;
- made great modifications to sub-clauses such as 4.8 “Protruding parts”,
4.10 “Plastic film or plastic bags in packaging and in toys”, 4.13.3
“Chains or belts in ride-on toys”, 4.18.2 “Projectile toys with stored
energy”, 4.18.3 “Non-storage catapult”, 4.26 “Toys roller skates, single
row roller skates and toys skateboards”, 5.10 “Plastic film thickness test”,
5.24.8 “Flex test”.
This Part uses redrafting method to modify and adopt ISO 8124-1.2000
Safety of toys - Part 1. Safety aspects related to mechanical and physical
properties as well as its amendments A1. 2007, A2. 2007 and ISO

Safety of toys –
Part 2. Mechanical and physical properties
1 Scope
The requirements in this Part of GB 6675 apply to all toys, i.e. any product or
material designed or clearly intended for use in play by children under 14
years of age. They are applicable to a toy as it is initially received by the
consumer and, in addition, they apply after a toy is subjected to reasonably
foreseeable conditions of normal use and abuse unless specifically noted
The requirements of this Part specify acceptable criteria for structural
characteristics of toys, such as shape, size, contour, spacing (e.g. rattles,
small parts, sharp points and edges, hinge-line clearances) as well as
acceptable criteria for properties peculiar to certain categories of toy (e.g.
maximum kinetic energy values for non-resilient-tipped projectiles, minimum
tip angles for certain ride-on toys).
This Part specifies requirements and test methods for toys intended for use
by children in various age groups from birth to 14 years. The requirements
vary according to the age group for which a particular toy is intended. The
requirements for a particular age group reflect the nature of the hazards and
the expected mental and/or physical abilities of the child to cope with them.
NOTE 1. See Annex A for toy age grouping guide. For more details, see GB/T 28022.
This Part also requires that appropriate warnings and/or instructions for use
be given on certain toys or their packaging. This Part requires appropriate
warnings and/or instructions on certain toy bodies or their packaging. The
basic contents of the warning and instructions are listed in Annex B.
This Part does not purport to cover or include every conceivable potential
hazard of a particular toy or toy category. Except for labelling requirements
indicating the functional hazards and the age range for which the toy is
intended, this Part has no requirements for those characteristics of toys that
represent an inherent and recognized hazard that is integral to the function of
the toy.
NOTE 2. An example of such a hazard is the sharp point necessary for the pro......
