as a national standard with a serial number of GB 50565-2010 and shall be implemented from December

Foreword
This code was formulated by the code drafting group through carrying out investigation and
study on the current state of fire protection design for the main domestic textile engineering, earnestly
summarizing the practical experiences from the fire protection design of existing engineering, actively
absorbing the technological achievement on fire protection design at home and abroad and developing
necessary technology researches and discussions as well as on the basis of widely soliciting for opinions
from relevant organizations such as design, production, fire supervision and fire research according to
the requirements of Document JIANBIAO [2005] No. 124 issued by the former Ministry of Construction
(MOC)--"Notice on Printing the Development and Revision Plan of National Engineering Construction
Standards and Codes in 2005 (the Second Lot)". And then it is examined and finalized jointly by
relevant depmtments.
This code comprises I 0 chapters and 3 appendixes with the main contents as follows. general
provisions, ten11S, classification of fire hazards, general planning and general layout for factories, production
and storage facilities, building and structure, fire water supply and drainage and fire extinguishing
facilities, smoke control and smoke exhaust, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning as well as electricity.
Provisions printed in bold type in this code are compulsory and must be enforced strictly.
Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the administration of this
code and the explanation of the compulsory provisions; China National Textile and Apparel Council
together with Ministry of Public Security is responsible for the routine management and China Textile
Industrial Engineering Institute is responsible for the explanation of specific technical contents.
Considering that the textile engineering involves wide areas and requ ires high technology, and
different production processes in various factories, the production scale is escalating and the production
technology and equipment are updating continuously along with the booming of the textile industry.
During the process of impiementing this code, each organization shall combine engineering practice
and earnestly sum up experiences. If there are any comments or suggestions, please post them to China

1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code was formulated with a view to preventing and reducing the fire hazard in textile
engineering and protecting personal and prope1ty safety.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to fire protection design of constructed, extended and renovated textile
engineering; therein, the fire protection design of texti le and clothing factory shall also meet the
relevant requirements of the current national standard "Code of Design on Building Fire Protection
and Prevention" GB 50016.
1.0.3 Fire protection design of textile engineering must comply with the fi re work guideline of
"Putting Prevention First. and Combining Prevention with Control". As for the production characteristics
of textile engineering, the relation between production and safety is treated correctly, and effective fire
protection measures are adopted to achieve safety and usability, techn ical advancement as well as
economy and rationality.
