Roof Crush Resistance of Passenger Cars
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements for the roof crush resistance of passenger
cars.
This Standard is applicable to the Type-M1 vehicle, but not applicable to the
convertibles.
2 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
2.1 Altered roof
After the original roof of the vehicle is partially or completely removed, replacement
roof with the height higher than that of the original roof.
NOTE. if partial or complete original roof of the vehicle is replaced by the roof with safety glazing
materials (e.g.. materials used by T-shaped roof and sunroof); the replacement roof shall be
installed on the same plane as the original roof; then the roof is not considered to be an altered
roof.
2.2 Raised roof
The prominent area on the roof.
2.3 Roof over the front seat area
The roof part located in front of the horizontal vertical plane about 162mm behind the
Point-H of the front outside seat; it includes the windshield trim.
2.4 Windshield trim
The trim of any materials between the windshield and the outer surface of the roof
includes materials covering the surface of some windshields or the exterior roof.
