Mobile crawler crane - Limits and measurement
methods for operating noise
1 Scope
This standard specifies the limits and measurement methods for operating
noise of mobile crawler cranes (wheel crane, auto-crane, crawler cranes).
This standard applies to mobile crawler cranes, which have engine rated power
of not greater than 350 kW (hereinafter referred to as cranes).
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard
through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent
amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard;
however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are
encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.
For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as established by JB/T 3301, as well as the following
terms and definitions, apply to this standard.
3.1
Environment noise
Environment noise refers to the noise of the surrounding environment
(including wind noise), when the measured crane noise does not exist.
4 Noise limit
When the crane is in operation, the radiated noise's sound power level LW(A)

Measurement methods for crane's operating noise
A.1 Measurement environment
A.1.1 The test site shall be a solid ground. There shall be no large reflectors,
within the range 3 times the distance, from the center of the crane chassis to
the measurement point. The environment noise is 6 dB(A) ~ 10 dB(A) lower
than the measurement noise. The measurement results shall minus the
correction value in Table A.1. If the difference is less than 6 dB(A), the
measurement result is invalid.
A.1.2 The wind speed at the test site shall be less than 5 m/s. When the wind
speed exceeds 2 m/s, the sound level meter shall use a wind shield.
A.1.3 The ambient temperature, during the test, is generally between -5 °C and
+35 °C.
A.2 Measuring instruments
A.2.1 The sound level meter or other equivalent measuring system, which is
used for measurement, shall not be lower than the requirements of the Type I
sound level meter, which is specified in GB 3785-1983. The "A" frequency
weighting characteristics and "S" time weighting characteristics shall be used
for measurement.
A.2.2 Speed measurement
Use a tachometer, which has an accuracy better than ±2%, to monitor the oil
pump speed or engine speed.
A.2.3 Measurement of meteorological parameter
The accuracy of the thermometer shall be within ±0.1 °C. The accuracy of the
anemometer shall be within ±1%.
A.2.4 All measuring instruments shall be inspected regularly, in accordance with
S - The area of the measuring surface, in square meters (m2);
S0 = 1 m2;
The value of 10 lgS/S0 is found from Table A.3.
Table A.3 -- Relationship between 10 lgS/S0 and R
A.4.1.4 The number of measurements: 3 times in each working condition.
A.4.1.5 Determination of measurement results
The difference between the three measurements, in each working condition,
shall not be more than 2 dB(A). When not satisfied, additional tests are required.
Calculate the arithmetic average value, as the reported value of the A-weighted
sound power level value. The A-weighted sound power level value of each
working condition shall not exceed the limit specified in Table 1.
A.4.2 Determination of noise in the on-board operating cab
A.4.2.1 All doors and windows of the operating cab are closed, during
measurement. The measurement conditions are the same as those in A.3.
A.4.2.2 Measuring position is usually arranged near the ears of the
measurement point [(750 ± 10) mm above seat's upper surface, (200 ± 50) mm
from the center line of the seat]; the microphone faces forward.
A.4.2.3 The sound level meter shall be placed in A weighted at slow gear.
A.4.2.4 The number of measurements: 3 times in each working condition.
A.4.2.5 Determination of measurement results
The difference between the three measurements, in each working condition,
shall not be more than 2 dB(A). When not satisfied, additional tests are required.
Calculate the arithmetic average value. Use it as the reported value of the noise
value in the on-board operating cab. The noise value in the on-board operating
cab, under each working condition, shall not exceed the limit specified in Table
1.
