Foreword
Sections 6.3, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 6.10 and 9.1 are mandatory provisions while others are
recommendatory provisions.
"Safety Glazing Materials in Building" (GB 15763) is divided into 4 parts.
- Part 1. Fire-resistant Glass;
- Part 2. Tempered Glass;
- Part 3. Laminated Glass;
- Part 4. Heat Soaked Thermally Tempered Glass.
This is Part 1 of GB 15763.
This part makes reference to corresponding foreign standards or codes, like "Glass in
Building - Fire Resistant Glazed Elements with Transparent or Translucent Glass Products -
Classification of Fire Resistance" (BS EN 357.2004) and "Glazing for Buildings - Code of
Practice for Fire, Security and Wind Loading" (BS 6262-3.2005).
This part replaces "Safety Glazing Materials in Building - Fire-resistant Glass" (GB
15763.1-2001). Compared with GB 15763.1-2001, the main changes in this part are
as follows.
- The provisions are revised according to No. 1 Amendment of GB 15763.1-2001.
- The definition of fire-resistant time is added.
- Type B fire-resistant glass is deleted.
- Scratch defect requirements for the appearance quality of laminated fire-resistant glass
are added.
- The fire-resistant time grade is redefined.
This part is proposed by China Building Materials Federation.
This part is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Glass in Building
of Standardization Administration of China.

Safety Glazing Materials in Building -
Part 1. Fire-resistant Glass
1 Scope
This part of GB 15763 specifies the terms and definitions, classification, marking,
materials, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks, product instructions, packaging,
transportation and storage for fire-resistant glass in building.
This part is applicable to the laminated fire-resistant glass in building and monolithic
fire-resistant glass manufactured through tempering process.
2 Normative References
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this
part of GB 15763, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent
amendments to (excluding amending errors in the text), or revisions of, any of these
publications do not apply. However, all parties coming to an agreement according to this
standard are encouraged to study whether the latest edition of the normative document is
applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
For purpose of this part, the following terms and definitions apply.

6.3 Fire resistance
Fire resistance of insulated fire-resistant glass (A type) and integrity-only fire-resistant

6.4 Tortuosity
The arched tortuosity of fire-resistant glass shall not exceed 0.3%, while the
wave-shaped tortuosity shall not exceed 0.2%.
6.5 Visible light transmittance
Visible light transmittance of fire-resistant glass shall meet those specified in Table 7.

7.3 Fire resistance
Fire resistance test shall be carried out according to GB/T 12513-2006.The fire exposure
dimension of sample shall be the actually used maximum dimension and shall not be less than
1100mm×600mm.
Fixed frame and installation mode used during the test shall be the same as that used for
practical engineering; the structure and installation mode of fixed frame shall be recorded in
drawings or other equivalent method. The temperature measured on the unexposed surface of
the fixed frame of insulated fire-resistant glass (A type) is only recorded and not regarded as
the judgment condition of insulation.
7.4 Tortuosity
It shall be measured according to the method specified in Section 6.4 of GB
15763.2-2005.
7.5 Visible light transmittance
Three samples shall be taken and inspected according to the method specified in Section
3.1 of GB/T 2680-1994. As for products which nominal value is indicated, the nominal value
is adopted as the basis of deviation; as for products which nominal value is not indicated,
three samples shall be taken for the test and the maximum difference among the three samples
shall be adopted.
7.6 Heat resistance
7.6.1 Six samples (three for standby) shall be taken for the test. The sample size shall be
300mm×300mm; the sample shall be made with the same material as the product under the
same processing technology.
