1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms, definitions, requirements, analytical methods,
inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of edible alcohol.
This Standard is applicable to the production, inspection and marketing of edible
alcohol.
2 Normative References
Through the quotation in this Standard, clauses in the following documents become
clauses of this Standard. In terms of references with a specified data, all the
subsequent modification lists (excluding corrigendum content) or revised editions are
not applicable to this Standard. However, all parties that reach an agreement in
accordance with this Standard are encouraged to explore the possibility of adopting
the newest versions of these documents. In terms of references without a specified
date, the newest versions are applicable to this Standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard.
3.1 Edible Alcohol
Edible alcohol refers to aqueous alcohol, which is produced through fermentation,
distillation and purification of raw materials of cereals, potatoes, molasses or other
edible agricultural products for the use in the food industry.
4 Requirements
4.1 Sensory Requirements
Sensory requirements shall comply with the stipulation in Table 1.
6.3 Inspection Classification
6.3.1 Exit-factory inspection
6.3.1.1 Before exiting factory, products shall be inspected batch by batch by the
manufacturer’s quality supervision and inspection department in accordance with the
stipulation in this Standard. Products that pass the inspection with a quality certificate
can be allowed to exit factory.
6.3.1.2 Inspection items. sensory requirements, chroma, ethanol, sulfuric acid test
chroma, oxidization time, acid, aldehyde, methanol, N-propanol, isobutyl alcohol,
isoamyl alcohol and cyanide.
6.3.2 Type inspection
6.3.2.1 Inspection items. all the required items in this Standard.
6.3.2.2 Under general condition, type inspection of the same type of products shall be
conducted every half a year. Under any of the following circumstances, type inspection
shall also be conducted.
a) When there are relatively significant changes in raw materials and auxiliary
materials;
b) When critical process or equipment is changed;
c) When new products are put into trial production or when normal production is
resumed after 3 months of suspension;
d) When national quality supervision and inspection institution needs to conduct
casual inspection in accordance with relevant stipulation.
6.4 Determination Rules
6.4.1 When one or more than one indicator in the inspection result does not comply
with the requirement in this Standard, take a doubled-size of sample from the same
batch of products for re-inspection; the result of the re-inspection shall prevail.
6.4.2 If there is still one (or more than one) disqualified item in the re-inspection result,
then the whole batch of products shall be determined as disqualified.
6.4.3 When there is dispute of the result between the demand-side and the supply-
side, both parties can negotiate-solve the disagreement; or a relevant organization can
be entrusted to conduct arbitration inspection; the result of the arbitration inspection
shall prevail.
