Introduction

STR genetic markers are widely used in forensic science, medical diagnosis, and anthropological research. This standard is oriented to the application requirements of STR. Set unified sequence polymorphic STR allele naming rules to improve the application value of STR. Sequence polymorphic STR allele naming rules

1 Scope

This standard specifies the naming rules for human sequence polymorphic STR alleles. This standard applies to all DNA laboratories and product manufacturers engaged in STR sequencing.

2 Normative references

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Locus The position of a gene on a chromosome or a segment of genomic DNA. [GB/T 37226-2018, definition 2.2] 3.2 Allele Different forms of genes that control the same trait in the same position on a pair of homologous chromosomes. 3.3 Genotype The combination of alleles on one or more loci of an individual is the actual genetic composition of the visible traits of an organism. 3.4 Short tandem repeat A type of DNA tandem repeats that are widely present in the genome of eukaryotes. The repeating unit usually consists of 2 to 6 bases The number of repetitions is usually 5 to 60 times. 3.5 Single nucleotide polymorphismsinglenucleotidepolymorphism Within the scope of the human genome, any single-base mutation causes two or more bases to appear at a specific nucleotide position, the least of which is A genetic marker of polymorphism that has a frequency of not less than 1% in the population. 3.6 Length polymorphism At the same locus, the difference in DNA length between alleles constitutes a polymorphism. 3.7 Sequencepolymorphism At the same locus, it is a polymorphism caused by differences in the bases of different individuals' DNA sequences. 3.8 Repeatregionsequence The part of the repeating unit in the STR, generally from the 5'end of the first repeating unit to the 3'end of the last repeating unit
