Foreword

This Standard was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaced TB/T 2489-1994 Ground Test Method for Horizontal and Vertical Force of Wheel-track. Compared with TB/T 2489-1994, this Standard made the major technical changes as follows besides the editorial modifications: --- Delete the relevant content of patching, bridge assembly and calibration for testing lateral wheel-rail force using the double-bridge road method (see Clause 3 of the 1994 Edition); --- Add the relevant content of patching, bridge assembly and calibration for testing lateral wheel-rail force by shear stress method (see Clauses 4, 5, 6, and 7 of this Edition); --- Optimize the bridge assembly for testing the lateral and vertical wheel-rail forces by shear stress method (see 4.3, 5.3 of this Edition; 3.3 of the 1994 edition). This Standard was proposed by and under the jurisdiction of China Academy of Railway Sciences – Standard and Metrology Research Institution. Drafting organization of this Standard: China Academy of Railway Sciences – Railway Engineering Research Institute. Chief drafting staffs of this Standard: Hao Yousheng, Tu Yinghui, Li Wei, Chen Songlin, Xu Liangshan, and Qie Luchao. The historical edition replaced by this Standard is as follows: TB/T 2489-1994. 1 Scope

This Standard specifies the track side test methods of vertical and lateral wheel-rail forces by shear stress method. This Standard is applicable to use strain gauges on the rails at the railway site to test the lateral and vertical wheel-rail forces.

2 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this Document, the following terms and definitions apply. 2.1 Lateral force of wheels/rails The force that is exerted by the wheels on the rail laterally and vertically to the symmetry axis of the rail section. 2.2 Vertical force of wheels/rails The force that is exerted by the wheels on the rail in a direction parallel to the symmetry axis of the rail section.

3 Testing Instruments and Tools

3.1 Instruments Signal modulator, data acquisition analyzer, etc. 3.2 Tools 500 V or 1000 V insulation meter, lateral force calibration device, vertical force calibration device and other necessary tools.
