Energy efficiency measurement method for LED displays
1 Scope
This document specifies the test conditions, test procedures, calculation methods for
the energy efficiency of LED displays.
This document is applicable to the test of LED displays with the same upper and lower
viewing angles and left and right viewing angles that work normally under the grid
voltage. For LED displays with asymmetric viewing angles, it can make reference to
this standard.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential clauses of this document
through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated references, only the
version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the
latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.
SJ/T 11141-2017 Generic specification for LED displays
SJ/T 11281-2017 Measure methods of light emitting diode (LED) displays
3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions established in SJ/T 11141-2017, as well as the following
terms and definitions, apply to this document.
3.1
Unit under test
A sample composed of one or more LED display modules randomly selected from
an LED display, used for energy efficiency test of LED displays.
3.2
On mode
The LED display is connected to the power supply, so that the display screen is in a
controlled state and can display normally.
- Relative humidity. 25% ~ 75%;
- Air pressure. 86 kPa ~ 106 kPa.
4.1.3 Test instruments
Test instruments generally include.
a) Illuminance meter;
b) Brightness meter (similar instruments for measuring optical properties such as
brightness and chromaticity are also acceptable);
c) Power meter (power meter with integration function);
d) 10 m tape measure.
4.1.4 Test site
In order to avoid interference of stray light on the test, the test shall be carried out in a
dark room, which shall meet the following conditions.
- Ambient light illumination requirements comply with SJ/T 11281-2017;
- Ambient illumination changes are less than ±10%.
4.1.5 Power supply
The voltage is AC 220 (1 ± 1%) V, the frequency is 50 (1±1%) Hz, the total harmonic
distortion shall not exceed 2%.
4.1.6 Test unit
The test unit shall meet the following requirements.
- The minimum size of the test unit for energy efficiency test is generally not less
than 1 m2;
- Each grayscale rectangle occupies not less than 64 pixels of the test unit;
- The display limit eight grayscale signal's reproduction rate is 100%.
4.2 Test signal
4.2.1 Signal format
The image resolution of the test signal shall be consistent with the physical resolution
of the test unit.
4.2.2 Signal content
The limit eight grayscale signal is a brightness signal, that produces two rows of
grayscale levels on a 50% gray background. The full black field level is 0%, the full
white field level is 100%, the first row of grayscale is 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%; the second
row of grayscale is 85%, 90%, 95%, 100%, which has an aspect ratio consistent with
the entire display image. This signal is used to adjust the functional state of the LED
display test unit. See Figure 1 for a schematic diagram of the limit eight grayscale signal.
4.3 Test conditions
4.3.1 Adjustment of image contrast and brightness
According to the white field color coordinate range of Table 8 in SJ/T 11141-2017,
adjust the LED display test unit to the maximum brightness.
Under the condition of maximum brightness, input the limit eight grayscale signal to
the test unit; adjust the LED display control system to the state where the limit eight
grayscale signal can be distinguished. If this state cannot be obtained, it shall be
adjusted to the best image quality and the set value shall be recorded.
4.3.2 Adjustment of ambient light control function
Any function that automatically adjusts the brightness, color, etc. of the picture by
ambient light brightness shall be adjusted to the off state.
4.3.3 Other control adjustments
Other functions such as audio playback, video segmentation, networking shall be turned
off.
