Foreword
This Standard is identical to the international standard ISO 17707:2005
“Footwear - Test methods for outsoles - Flex resistance” (English edition).
For ease of use, this Standard has made the following editorial changes:
a) CHANGE the word “this European Standard” to “this Standard”;
b) Replace the comma “,” as a decimal point with a decimal point “.”;
c) Delete the “Foreword” of the international standard;
d) Delete the “Contents” of the international standard.
This Standard was proposed by China National Light Industry Council.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee
305 on Footwear of Standardization Administration of China.

Footwear - Test methods for outsoles - Flex resistance
1 Scope
This Standard specifies a method for determining the flex resistance of outsoles.
This method is intended to assess the effect of outsole materials and outsole
patterns on cut growth. This method is applied to outsoles that, in accordance
with the test mentioned in Clause 6, have a maximum longitudinal rigidity of 30
N.
Note: The method described in this Standard is based on the method for the determination
of the flex resistance for outsoles described in EN ISO 20344.
2 Normative references

subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this Standard. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this
Standard are encouraged to investigate whether the latest editions of these

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this Standard, the following term and definition apply.
3.1 Flex resistance
Number of flexes that cause cut growth and/or initiation of cracks in the outsoles.
